Frances B. Moore

After living 100 years of a blessed life, Frances B. Moore peacefully transitioned on March 31, 2024. Frances was born on September 10, 1923, in Lancaster, South Carolina, to Ethel and John Boykin. Surrounded by love of her family and the values that they demonstrated and instilled, Frances began to dedicate her life to one compassionate service at an early age and to this very day she is known for it. She was educated in the public schools of Lancaster and later earned a degree at the Barber Scotia College in Concord, North Carolina. Shortly thereafter, Frances moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she met and married Leon James White. As a devoted mother, she demonstrated and instilled the value of hard work, kindness and perseverance. Her legacy of love and guidance shaped their lives in profound ways and for that they are eternally grateful. Frances was not a stranger to hard work. She embarked on a 40-year career with the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, Maryland where she not only excelled in her work, but also served as a passionate union representative, advocating tirelessly for her colleagues. Later she married Benjamin Moore and moved to the Ashburton Community where she thrived and was a respected member of the community. Frances was active member of Grace Presbyterian Church, where her faith and commitment shone brightly. She served as President of the Grace Flower Circle and it stands to reason that in her free time, she delighted in gardening and flower arranging. Frances found joy in various hobbies and activities. Not only did she demonstrate skill in the garden, but her prowess in the kitchen was legendary as many clamored to sit at her table. She was an excellent cook! Frances also enjoyed leisurely shopping trips, the thrill of Bingo and casinos, engaging in games of pinochle, and delving into the pages of Bottom Line Magazine. Frances Moore is preceded in death by her parents Ethel and John Boykin as well as her former husband, Benjamin Moore. She leaves to cherish their memories: Leon J. White Jr. and Allen White; her beloved grandchildren, Allison White and Patrick White; her nephews Robert and John Blackmon; and a host of other relatives and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unwavering love, generosity, and, dedication to those she held dear.
