Frances M. Dorsey

On Tuesday, June 24, 2014, God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb, so He gently touched her soul, quietly whispering “peace be thine.” FRANCES MILDRED DORSEY (affectionately known as “Mom Mom” by family and friends) was born January 16, 1926 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Mable Holsey Weaver and Sherman Weaver. Frances received her education in the Baltimore City Public School system. She worked at the University of Maryland at Baltimore for twenty years until she retired. She was presented with an award of recognition shortly after her retirement. During these years she gave so much love and so much of herself to everyone she came in contact with. Even after retiring Frances continued to care for and serve her family. Her life revolved around her children, and grandchildren were her world. On her 80th Birthday she was presented with the following plague: “Mother, in honor of the difference that you made in our lives, this plaque represents the love, admiration and respect that we have for you. We take pride in saluting you on this very special day, your Eightieth Birthday. You are our life, you are our inspiration! Thank you for going above and beyond. We love you so very much. Bobby, Kent, Lynn and Betty. Frances loved entertaining and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed helping and serving anyone in need. She loved her family and friends and made sure she spoke to them on a daily basis. Not only did she love everyone she came in contact with, but she was loved by everyone too! In 1973 she participated in the Miss Soul Popularity Contest and won because she just made that kind of impression! She loved to celebrate every holiday, even St. Patrick’s Day, and her favorite holiday was Christmas! Frances is survived by: two sons, Charles and Kent Dorsey; two daughters, Lynn Webster and Betty Brown; two sons-in-law, Kenny Brown and Steve Webster; two daughters-in-law, Barbara and Marie Dorsey; two sisters, Nancy Finch and Joyce Weaver; grandchildren, Joy, Charles, Harold, Kimberly, Marc, Mieka, Katina, Darren, Nettie, Tiffany, Krystal, and Eboni; sixteen great-grandchildren and a host of friends and other loved ones.
