Fowan D. Nelson

Master Fowan Devoyagin Nelson Beloved, Dedicated and Devoted son of Mrs. Leatha Mae Wells-Jenkins and Mr. Earl Nelson, suddenly passed into the loving arms of our Lord on Saturday, November 10, 2001, while visiting his sick uncle Mr. Larry Wells of Lynchburg, South Carolina. Fowan was welcomed into the world on April 4, 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland. Fowan was an extraordinary son, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed. He was such a spiritual young man who encouraged every soul he came into contact with. He became a Christian at a very early age, attending both the Jones Tabernacle Church and the Wilson Chapel Baptist Church. He loved to go to church and was a member of the church choir. Fowan graduated with Honors from Lake Clifton Senior High School after which he proceeded to attend the Peabody Preparatory Institute and was a Music Major, specialized in Classical music. Fowan’s first recital at Peabody occurred January 23, 1986, he played a selection by Dionisio Aquada, also while attending classes at Peabody, Fowan enrolled at the Morgan State University majoring in Music. He was such an outstanding student, dazzling his music professors through correcting mistakes that they made. Fowan played an important part as a standing member of the Morgan’s Marching Band, as well as the lead guitar player in the Jazz ensemble. His peers honored Fowan as a notable student.Fowan was employed as a Special Security Agent with Heritage Security based at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn. At the time of his death, Fowan was preparing to make a transition to become a Deputy Sheriff at the Aberdeen Proving Ground. To add to his many accomplishments Fowan was a featured model for Ms. Willa Bland of Flair Studios. Fowan leaves to cherish his sweet memory: his beloved and devoted mother, Mrs. Leatha Mae Wells-Jenkins; his father, Mr. Earl Nelson; his precious daughter, Sha’Quan Nelson; Ms. Erica Coles, whom he loved as a daughter; a devoted friend, Ms. June Barnes; loving sister, Mrs. Dawana S. Jenkins-Jones; two loving brothers Vandorn V. Jenkins and Texture D. Jenkins (his older brother McDuffie L. Jenkins, preceded him in death); a special brother-in-law, Mr. Howard L. Jones; a devoted nephew, Master Javar M. Spearman; a loving, devoted and dear niece, Shateria S. Jones-Spearman, to whom he adored as his own child and to whom she looked up to as a dear uncle and a special friend; his loving nieces, Mrs. Nekeisha Jenkins and Adorn Jenkins; a very loving and caring aunt, Mrs. Vernell Sheriff, to whom Fowan was very devoted to affectionately known as Aunt Big Annie; three loving uncles, Mr. Larry Wells of Lynchburg, South Carolina, Herbert L. Wells and John Henry; four special aunts, Mrs. Earthra Wells of Lynchburg, Mrs. Rosalie Capers, Mrs. Maple Cousar, Mrs. Ovenla Polston, Delores Frierson from New York one devoted godsister, Mrs. Nadine Williams Holmes; devoted God brother, Mr. David Briley, loving godson, Robert D. Mason Jr.; a very special cousin, Jerome Sheriff, whom Fowan loved as his brother, a host of dear cousins and friends.
