Flossie A Harris

MOTHER FLOSSIE ARRINGTON HARRIS, born on September 9, 1933, in Franklin County, North Carolina, peacefully departed this life on August 30, 2024, at the age of 90. She was the beloved daughter of Annie Mae Arrington. Flossie lived a full and rich life, defined by her unwavering love for God, her family, and her community. Flossie married the love of her life, James Harris, with whom she raised 10 children. She was an incredibly devoted mother who cherished her children and embraced every role with grace and compassion. Her heart extended beyond her family as she found joy in cooking, which she turned into a lifelong passion. As a well-known chef at several restaurants, including the Capital City Truck Stop and Augustine College, people from near and far would come to taste her famous pie and enjoy her delicious home-cooked meals. In 1974, Flossie moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where she continued to serve her family and community through her love of cooking, sewing, and other dedicated services. Flossie was a proud and devoted member of Nazarene Temple Apostolic Faith Church, where she actively served as a church mother and on several other auxiliaries. She dedicated countless hours of prayer and faithful service to God’s people. Flossie’s love for her church family was unwavering. Her profound faith inspired all who knew her, and she never missed an opportunity to share the love of Christ. Her favorite quote, “God is in Control,” was a testament to her deep trust in God’s plan. Mother Flossie will be deeply missed for her wise counsel, faithfulness, and endless encouragement. Her steadfast devotion to God, her family, and her church left an indelible mark on many. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. Mother Flossie was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Mae Arrington; her sisters, Patricia Rorie and Dazzell Yarbrough; her brothers, Russell, Elbert, and Saul; and her children, Flossie Ann Harris (Tula) and Nobbie Colman. She leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Jewel Burnett, Betty Harris, Josephine Smith, and Mary Servance; four sons, James Harris, Bobby Harris, Carl Harris (CJ), and Charles Harris; four sisters, Isabell Venable, Ruby Short, Elizabeth Williams, and Linda Cooper; one long-time friend, Joyce Waters; and a host of family, extended family, and dear friends . Mother Flossie Harris will forever be remembered for her unshakable faith, her love for her family, and the wisdom and warmth she generously shared with all.
