Fernando Bells, Sr.

“And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) On Sunday morning May 1,2016,just as the moon was completing its nightly activities and preparing to exchange places with the sun, our God, who is always just and merciful, looked down from his celestial home and beckoned his son to come home. Fernando Bells was born on December 5, 1968 to Percy Bells and Marietta Moore of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and accepted Christ at an early age. Fernando was educated in the Vicksburg Public School System and graduated from Vicksburg High School. After graduating, he enlisted with the United States Navy where he proudly served his country for 2 years and retiring in 2014 as PSI (First Class Petty Officer). While serving his country,Fernando recognized the value of having a sound education which prompted him to pursue an Associates of Applied Science in Business Management from Bryant and Stratton College(Richmond, VA),Bachelors of Science in Business Administration & Business Management from TUI University (Cypress, CA);MBE Executive Management Program from University of Richmond, Robins School of Business(Richmond, VA),and with three classes remaining,Fernando was pursuing a Masters of Arts in Human Resource Management,TUI University(Cypress,CA).He not only understood the importance of his education, but also growing spiritually and having a church home.Therefore,he joined Mt. Enon Baptist Church of Philadelphia,Pennsylvania, where he remained faithful until relocating to Virginia. Fernando was affiliated and actively involved the St. Peter Masonic Lodge No.1 of Petersburg, Virginia Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, and U.S. Navy First Class Petty Officers Association. He joined and became a faithful member of St. James Baptist Church, where he utilized his God-given gifts and talents to serve the people of God. He volunteered and served as coach of the St. James Baptist Church Christian Basketball Team and was a Board Member of the St. James Child Development Center. He also served as the Mentorship Program Coordinator for the St. Peters Masonic Lodge No.1 and Assistant Football Coach for the Hotchkiss Community Recreation Center. Fernando fell in love and married La`Drena Davis on August 10, 2013. During the time they were married, he showered her with love and affection which was evident for everyone to see. Fernando leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife,La`Drena Davis-Bells, four daughters Dominique Bells, Taylor Jeter, Miona Bells, and Michaela Davis; two sons Joshua Davis and Fernando “Malik”Bells, Jr. Mother, Marietta Moore and Father, Percy Bells (Vicksburg, MS); Mother-in-law, Jennifer Simon(Philadelphia, PA); four sisters,Latoska Bells,Rashunda Hunter( Jeffrey), Tiffany Bells, and Tiffany Robinson; three brothers, Darfeis William (Katherine), Michael Gardner, and Wade Thomas; one brother who preceded him in death Percy DeWayne William; five aunts, Bertha Mixon(Jimmy) Vergie Hearron, Charlie Jean Walker, Elma William- Coleman (Carroll)and Stephanie Frink(Thomas); two uncles.Leon Williams and Darfeis Williams; special fraternity brother and friend, Rev. Edmund T.Sherrill; three god- daughters, Naimah,Londyn and Logyn Moton; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
