Evon Elizabeth Briggs-Little

Evon E. Little, daughter of the late Clifton Briggs and the late Thomas and Nornette Camphor, was born on August 17, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Friday, August 15, 2003 at Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland after a lengthy illness.She received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools System.For several years, Evon was employed at The Sun as a mailroom trainer. In 1985, she obtained her Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification; and served thirteen years as a nurse’s assistant in several nursing homes.“Evon” or “E”, as she was affectionately known, met Charlie Little, BKA. “Young” in 1968. They were united in holy matrimony on August 17, 1993. She was the mother of four children.Her passions were helping everyone and caring for her children and grandchildren. Evon truly enjoyed family outings and gatherings. She often went to the bingo halls where she enjoyed a competitive game of Bingo. One of her favorite past-times was watching sports with her dear friend Donte; they bet cases of Pepsi on winning teams!Evon was baptized at the Shiloh Christian Church in Baltimore, Maryland.She leaves to mourn: her husband, Charlie Little; two daughters, Katrina Branch and Tarsha Little; two sons, Charles Little Sr. and Todd Little; two stepchildren, Alex and Ieisha Little; two godsons, Louis Armstrong and DeJesus Gibson; four grandchildren, La Tavia and Sade Cawthorn, Charles Little Jr. and Tyronae Little.Two sisters will always remember her gently: Thomasina Doswell and Andrea Witherspoon; four brothers, Thomas Camphor, Burnell Briggs, Clifton Briggs Jr., Maurice Briggs; one god-brother, Gregory Graham; five sisters-in-law, Brenda Camphor and Clemetine Graham of Baltimore, Ruthann Robinson, Jacqueline Smith and Marcella Bleake of North Carolina; four brothers-in-law, Eric Dorwell and Lindell Witherspoon of Baltimore, William Robinson and Artillia Smith of North Carolina. A host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends were touched by her legacy.Preceding her in death were her father, Clifton Briggs Sr., her mother, Nornette Presco Camphor; her step-father, Thomas Camphor; her god-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Graham; and her brother, Michael Camphor.
