Evelyn U. Grissett

Evelyn Urquhart Grissett, Also know as “Evvie,” was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 11, 1947 to the late Elizabeth Urquhart and the late Milton Myers, Jr.God’s angels suddenly escorted Evelyn to her eternal rest on May 22, 2008. She was the eldest of four children; Juanita, Elaine, and Clifton Urquhart.Evelyn received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. On June 17,1967, Evelyn married the love of her life, Raymond Grissett and of this union two children were born, Raymond Kirk Grissett, Jr. and Rodney Keith Grissett. Evelyn began her employment history with Center Stage before joining the Baltimore City Health Department as a secretary. Most of her career was dedicated to the Baltimore City Public School System beginning at Booker T. Washington Junior High School. Later, Evelyn was promoted and relocated to Baltimore City Public School System headquarters building. Evelyn’s career with Baltimore City Public School System spanned 37 years, and she retired in December 2007 as an Administrative Secretary. Evelyn received Christ as her personal Savior and she became a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She loved her family very much. Evelyn enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. People were easily drawn to her sweet personality and her beautiful smile: Evelyn enjoyed reading the Bible and she enjoyed listening to a variety of music, regularly traveling to Atlantic City, and socializing with family and friends. Evelyn leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Raymond; two sons, Raymond Kirk and Rodney Keith; father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Henry F. and Beatrice Grissett; two grandsons, Renard Kenneth Conaway Grissett and Jordan Darnell Grissett; two sisters, Juanita Urquhart Johnson and Elaine Urquhart Douglass; one brother, Clifton Urquhart, Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Grissett; five sisters-in-law, Denise Miller, Deborah Richardson, Barbara Adams, Robin Robinson, and Paula Urquhart; three brothers-in-law, George Douglass, Ralph Cummings, Sr. and Arthur Johnson; Numerous nieces and nephews and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
