Evelyn Robertson

Wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, teacher, and child of God, EVELYN JUANITA (MOORE) ROBERTSON is now with God and her firstborn son, Alexander Robertson, Jr. Born December 26, 1941 in Guilford County, NC, Evelyn was the third child to Ella Mae and James Moore. She spent her childhood in the close- knit community surrounding Dolley Madison Road in Greensboro, NC. Evelyn gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a member who served on the choir at Persimmon Grove A.M.E. Church in Greensboro, NC. After graduating from Dudley High School, Evelyn attended Winston Salem Teachers College where she was a clarinet player in the marching band. Evelyn received her Bachelor's Degree in Education (Pre K – 6) from Winston Salem Teachers College and received a Master's Degree Equivalency at Loyola College. She taught elementary education in Eden, NC, Oklahoma City, OK and Baltimore, MD. Evelyn was an educator for 30+ years for Baltimore City Public Schools and was known for being a compassionate educator who was dedicated to the teaching profession. She took her role as an educator very seriously. She played a huge role in shaping the lives of children wherever she taught. As a coworker and friend, she was authentic and light-hearted. At home, she was a caring yet firm mother and a loving wife. To family, she was a nucleus. Evelyn did what was right and operated at her best. Her passion was her family. She enjoyed good food, good music, family vacations, and a good laugh with friends and family. Evelyn is survived by: Alexander Robertson, Sr., her beloved husband of forty-nine years; her children, Tracy Tilghman, Michael Robertson, Andrew Robertson; son-in-law, Edward Tilghman; daughter-in-law, Tami Robertson; sister, Marcella Moore; brother, Julius Moore; four sisters-in-law, LaRue Moore, Carol Robertson, Ethel Robertson, Barbara Anne Robertson; brother- in-law, Dr. Bobby Robertson; six grandsons, one great granddaughter, nieces and nephews, and other family and friends. Her love was understood and never mistaken. She took care of her family and will be forever known as Mom, “Sister”, Aunt “Ev” or Evelyn, Grandma, EJ or Evelyn. By her husband and children, she will be remembered most by her strength, her firmness, her friendship, her laughter and her desire and ability to always be there for them. Evelyn J. Robertson will be missed!
