Evelyn Quick

The late Evelyn Quick was born in Ellerbee, North Carolina on June 11, 1924. Her parents were the late John and Flora Belle Turner. She departed this life at Henrico Doctors Hospital Forest Campus on August, 6, 2010. She is predeceased by two brothers, Donnie and Ernest and a sister, Pearlie Mae. She was the widow of the late John Quick. They were married on June 24, 1949 and had 34 wonderful years together. The late Mrs. Quick was an incredible homemaker and cook who loved to entertain and was devoted to her family. Following her husband’s death in 1983 she moved to Richmond to live with Paula. During that time she became active in bowling and joined the Senior Choir at St. Peter Baptist Church. Mrs. Quick developed a host of friends and neighbors who literally became like family. She loved to give cookouts and parties and was known for her fried fish and barbecue ribs. People loved her unbounded wit and humor. Mrs. Quick was a very caring, compassionate, and supportive person who loved having fun with her family and friends. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she was loved and admired by all who knew her.Because of the wonderful love she shared, she will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts. Her smile, her laughter and the love she had for family were the backbone of her personality. We are comforted in knowing that she is in a better place and has a better life. The family is so fortunate to have had her in our lives for so many years and we feel empty without her. Mrs. Quick was truly a blessing from God and generated rays of loving sunshine in our house with her spirit. She would want to be remembered as someone who cared about her friends as much as she did her own family and for her generosity of love. Mrs. Quick is survived by her devoted daughter, Paula Quick and her loving son, Lyrie McShepherd; two grandchildren, Erik and Iman McShepherd; a special caregiver, Gayle Winston; a host of other relatives, devoted friends and neighbors. Now she is in a place where there is no pain, no health crisis to be taken care of. She is in the heavenly arms of the Father.
