Evelyn L. Nicholson

Evelyn Lithanna Nicholson was born February 7, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late George Nicholson and Terry Theresa Smith. She was educated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania public school system, and graduated from William Penn High School in June 1976. Evelyn was so multi-talented that she maintained employment in many segments of the job market. They included catering and construction. Upon her death, she was fully employed by the University of Maryland School of Medicine /IHV Clinic. Also, she was active on the Board of Single Father’s Inc, as well as other community organizations. Her deepest passions were two-fold. She loved to help her clients, and she went to extremes to encourage and support them. If it meant catching an Uber or a bus, Evelyn showed up with her voice and resources to help those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. As a matter of fact, she was “Mom” to so many people. She opened her doors to all who needed help, such as a place to stay or providing an excellent meal to eat. Her supervisor often warned her to “not answer the phone” because she knew Evelyn would try to help those in need at her expense. Her first love was her love for her family, especially her grandchildren. Often, she took them to the movies, bowling, and other local community events. Consequently, “Litha”, as she was affectionately called was loved and adored by many. After a brief illness, Evelyn passed from labor to reward on August 6, 2023. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leroy Smith; son, Lorado Williams, Jr.; mother, Terry Dawkins; father, George Nicholson; stepfather, Lindsay Dawkins; aunts, Nell Smith, Maria Moore, and Mary Wellington-Sellars; uncles, John McDaniels, James Mays, and Douglass Moore. She leaves to cherish her life, 1 daughter, Darein La’Tres Williams; 2 sons Lavar and Lamar Williams; 6 grandchildren, Kyshira, Katelyn, Ethan Tripline; LaVar Jr., Labar, Lamar Jr., Williams; her “Dad,” Raymond Savage, Jr.; 3 sisters, Valarie Pugh (Cato), Kim Harrison, Kenya Savage; 5 brothers, Clarence Young, Raymond Savage III, Keith Savage, Oscar Savage, Stephen Savage, Russell and Kenny Dawkins, a host of nieces nephews, cousins, unofficial adopted children, grandchildren and friends.
