Evelyn Cooke Nash

Evelyn C. Nash, 84 years old and residing in Richmond, Virginia, peacefully departed this life on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Regional Memorial Hospital after bravely battling a prolonged illness. She was the sole daughter of the late George Fredrick Martin and Lottie Levenia Goodwyn Martin. A devoted and committed member of Saint Paul's Baptist Church, she actively participated in various committees, including the Usher Board. Mass Choir, and leadership of the Refiner's group. Richmond; Virginia, was her hometown, and she was born on May 31, 1939, where she also received her education; including her time at Virginia Union University. In her younger years, she Joined the American Businesswoman Association in Richmond; Virginia, where she achieved, the prestigious title of "Businesswornanof the Year· in the 1970s. Concurrently, she commenced·her·career as an Executive Administrator Assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University, dedicating over two decades to this role. Additionally, during the early 2000's, she served as the chairwoman of the Young Woman Christian League, guiding numerous young Christian women in fostering leadership skills and entrepreneurial spirit. As she entered her later years, she embraced: membership in the Red Hatter's Society, embarking on journeys across the United States. During these travels, she forged strong connections, shared meals, and collaborated with other accomplished women to establish meaningful networks aimed at empowering the next generation of young women. As the proprietor of Eve's.Collections, she embarked on journeys to multiple states across the United States. During these trips, she offered an assortment of accessories, jewelry, scarves, and uniquely tailored hats for both women and men. Her products empowered countless individuals to acquire stylish items that allowed them to express their individuality and sophistication. Evelyn C. Nash is survived by her loving children: one daughter, Cassandra D. Patron, residing in Richmond, VA, and one son, William Cooke Jr.; residing in Jersey City, NJ. She is also remembered by two granddaughters, Tandylyn.S. Cooke and Jessica M. Patron, as well as three great-granddaughters, Jasmaine D. Spruill, Zoe Harris, and Trinity M. Patron. In addition, she leaves behind three great-great-grandchildren: Jae'Ceon I-I Spruill, Ke'Mari M. Horne, and Patience B. Newbill, all of Richmond; VA. Her extended family includes four cherished cousins: Mozelle Tucker of MD, Louis Goodwin of VA, Lawerence Johnson of VA, and Yvonne Jefferies of VA. She was lovingly cared for by four dedicated and loyal caregivers, namely Lauretta Crawley, Ashley Keck, Sophia Carroll, and April Charity, all of Richmond, VA. She also had a multitude of cousins and devoted friends who will remember her fondly.
