Euthea Hobbs

EUTHEA ELAINE HOBBS, the beloved daughter of the late Cynthia D. Parker and the late Williams Hobbs, Sr., was born on March 31, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the eldest of five children. Euthea was received by God on January 1, 2023. Our sister Euthea, affectionately called Cookie by her family, friends and loved ones, was a beautiful and gentle person. She was loving, kind and caring to everyone, especially to her sisters and brothers. Being the eldest, Cookie would mother and protect her younger siblings, keeping an eye out for them and letting them know when our mother was coming if they were up to any mischief. She had a great sense of humor. She would keep us laughing, and her smile would light up the room. Cookie suffered from a life-long illness that would eventually leave her bedridden. Through her inner-strength and faith, she was often able to overcome the effects of her illness. She would sometimes say that she was sorry for being ill because she could no longer care for herself. We let her know, “We are your family. Our love and devotion to you will always be unconditional. We are family and that’s what we do. We love you, Cookie!” In 1992, Cookie became a permanent resident at Unified Community Connections, in Sparks, Maryland. The staff became her extended family, showing and giving Cookie exceptional love and care. Even with all the love and care she received at her home away from home, Cookie would frequently come home to us to be spoiled and “Yes, spoil her, we did.” Cookie was the gift that we could never have wished for, imagined or even expected to receive in this lifetime, but always wanted. She never complained. We will miss her laughter, smile and her adventurous spirit. Cookie was preceded in death by her sisters Denise Hobbs and Debra Hobbs, niece Cynthia Hobbs and aunt Joan Rice. Cookie leaves to mourn: her sister, Donna M. Hobbs; brother, William Hobbs Jr.; aunt, Ms. Nadine Harris; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She is now home with Momma, Denise and Debra. Tell them, “We will be there with them one day, but not right now. God has you now.” Love you Sis, may you be at peace.
