Estelle Capel

Whenever someone dies, there is sorrow, disbelief, and pain. A voice, a mind, and a heart, a life-has been silenced. When that person was loved as much as Mrs. Estelle Capel, it makes it even harder. When one person dies, part of us dies too. The community where she lived, her family, and Providence Baptist Church of Baltimore, she will truly be missed.Estelle Capel was born in Darlington, South Carolina on July 6, 1929. Estelle’s parents-Edward and Rosa DePaugh, three sisters, and two brothers are deceased. She was educated in the Baltimore City School System. Estelle Capel was a retired Hochild Kohn employee and did catering service. She prepared and served food for parties and other occasions prior to her health problems. She was a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church, and loved Women’s Day. She had been on the sick-and shut-in list for a while. She loved life, but most of all, Mrs. Capel loved people, always seeing the best in us. She enjoyed traveling to Freeport, Bahamas and cruising on The Royal Caribbean to St. Thomas and other islands, with her niece, Mildred Gingles. She met and stayed in touch with so many people from the cruise and the Bahamas. Yet, as Christians, with faith-filled courage we proclaim that death is not the end; that our God is a God of the living-and that which is what sister Capel lived on. She is with God. Her suffering is over, she is at peace. As from the second reading from St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, God has “sounded His trumpet” and sister Capel has joined in. The wisdom she has learned and shared throughout her life prepared her for the last wonderful change God would provide; giving her a new incorruptible body and taking her where there is no more sadness, no more tears; for as Christians we firmly believe that life is not ended, only changed. She is survived by: a loving and devoted husband, Quinzel, one niece, Mildred Gingles, and family of Columbia, Md., one nephew, Harry Ellison, and family of Baltimore, Md., one brother, James Jackson and family of Darlington, South Carolina, one niece, Velveteen King and family of Darlington, South Carolina; four brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and other relatives and a host of friends.
