Estelle C. Harrison

Estell C. Harrison, daughter of the late Thomas H. Watkins and Addie C. Harris, was born on November 11, 1931 in Clarkesville, Va. She departed this life on February 9, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Estell was educated in the Virginia Public School System. The family migrated to Baltimore, Maryland in the early 1940's where Estell continued her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. The family later migrated to Boston, Massachusetts in 1955. Estell was employed at Morse Shoe Factory. She was a valued employee there for a number of years. In 1975, she moved back to Baltimore, where she married Leroy G. Harrison, Sr. Estell was a very compassionate woman. She had a big heart with so much room to love so many. She was known as "Mom" to so many and "Grandmom" to even more. She was the kind of woman that would help anyone that she could and would pray to God for more resources to help more when she had run out of what He had already blessed her with. She became the baby sitter for her children and for the neighbors and the neighbors children. Sometimes it seemed like, as soon as someone found out they were pregnant, straight to "Mom" they would go, and ask, "You are going to watch the baby, aren't you?" And with that heavenly trademark of hers, her smile, she would always say, "Just bring him or her here." Estell had a blended family. She leaves to mourn: her husband of twenty-nine years, Leroy G. Harrison, Sr.; one sister, Delores Asamoah; one brother, Thomas H. Watkins; two biological children, Linwood Giles, Sr. of Fairburn, Ga. and Lynn L. James of Baltimore, Md.; eight children, Leroy Harrison, Jr., Joyce Watkins, Deborah Wilson, Steve Harrison, Nathaniel Harrison, Sedora Chisolm and Theresa Simmons; one daughter-in-law, Diane Giles; four sons-in-law, Fred Watkins, Sr., Thomas Wilson, Jr., Severn Chisolm and Michael Simmons; one sister-in-law, Juanita Watkins; one brother-in-law, John William; three biological grandchildren, Linwood Giles, Jr. and Yvette Nicole Giles of Boston, Mass. and DeShaylynn Shanazz James; nineteen grandchildren, AndrŽ James, Anthony Harrison, Antonio Harrison, Bruce Fisher, Crissy Harrison, Crystyl Harrison, Danielle Simmons, Darnell Watkins, Michelle Simmons, Nicole Wilson, Octeavious Chisolm, Roderick Harrison, Sinclair Harrison, Stacey Harrison, Stephanie Harrison, Steve Harrison, Jr., Thomas Wilson, III and Tyrell Watkins; one goddaughter, Alice White; seventeen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and host of other relatives and friends.
