Essie Ruth Williams

A Time to Be Born On October 5, 1936 a beautiful child was born to the late Joe and Essie Davis by the name of Essie Ruth Williams, in Pitt County, North Carolina. A Time to Learn Essie Ruth the 7th child of 8 siblings, was reared in the Belvoir community of Pitt County, North Carolina and where she also received her education. At the age of 18, she moved to New York City and obtained her employment opportunity as a domestic worker. She later moved from New York City and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland where she decided to reside. She soon met and became reacquainted with her childhood sweetheart, and the late Robert Lee Williams, they were united in Holy matrimony and out of this union, five beautiful children were born. A Time to Work Essie Ruth primary employment was a service to people. Her many jobs consisted of child care provider, youth work supervisor and home health care to the the elderly and disabled. She served in New York, Baltimore and North Carolina areas for over 50 years. A Time to Laugh and Love Essie was a lovable and caring person, she would shower all who came in contact with her, She enjoyed her family and friends through entertainment at her home. She enjoyed cooking meals that could feed a multitude. Essie also loved to travel. Her many places led her up and down the east coast, west coast, North eastern region, including Canada and the Bahamas. Where ever there was a casino she was there. She touched the lives of many through the help of God’s unchanging hands. A Time to Die On Sunday September 21, 2014, after a brief illness, God called Essie Ruth to his place of Heavenly Home. Knowingly God does not make mistakes; he called his angel from this side of Zion to give her rest from labor. A Time to Remember Essie Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Maurice, three brothers, Richard, James Roy and Laurence. She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Mirricco and Travis, two daughters, Diane and Maxine of the home; six grandchildren, Machon, Ashley, Robert, Brandon, Ebony and Justin; four great grandchildren, Carlos, Autumn, Shamya, Summer and a set of new arrivals; one sister Carrie Flinch, two brothers, Bennie Davis and Curtis Davis of North Carolina, and Joe Davis (Mac) of Baltimore, MD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
