Erik David Knight

ERIK DAVID KNIGHT was born on January 2, 1980 to the late Larry Knight and Ellen Knight in Baltimore, Maryland. At a tender age, Erik accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in Jesus' name at the Refuge Way of the Cross Church of Christ in Baltimore, Maryland. Though he departed this earthly life at a young age, his life of love and humility has left a footprint on the hearts and minds of his family and friends. We can take comfort in the words found in Isaiah, chapter 57 verses 1-2, "The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart; and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness." Erik was affectionately called "Peanut" by his family and "Brother Bomani" by many in the community. Because of his love and concern for the welfare of his community, Erik adopted the name Bomani, which means "Warrior." He was determined to use his talents to help the Baltimore community become a better, safer place. Erik was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating from Carver High School with a specialty in Culinary Arts. He was awarded many awards for his literary endeavors and attended Columbia State University and Baltimore City Community College. Erik was a gentle person who loved everyone. To know Erik was to truly love him. Erik is survived by: his loving mother, Ellen Knight; brother, Lamont Knight; sister, Cherese Knight; godbrother, Maurice Willis; niece, Evelyn Knight; grandfather, Elliott Daughtry Sr.; uncles, Ernest, Hosea and Sam; aunts, Christine, Judy, and Victoria; great-aunts and -uncles; cousins, friends, and brothers and sisters of the community. While we will miss his physical presence - his gentle laugh, humble smile, love-filled hugs and words of peace and comfort, we can take comfort in. God's eternal words as written in the gospel of John, chapter 11 verses 25-26, "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believeth thou this?"
