Eric D. Cook

Eric Daevon Cook was born on June 10, 1992 to Erica Pettis and Thomas Cook. He departed this life suddenly on suddenly on December 30, 2012. Eric was raised in a Christian home with his mother Erica, grandmother 'Mama'. Late grandfather 'Pop-Pop' and younger brother Jaelen whom he loved , admired and cherished dearly. As a young child, was affectionately known as “Buddha” and was always a jokester who could impersonate anyone , making those around him laugh until they cried. Eric was a very loving, caring person with a genuine warmth, a beautiful smile,and a great sense of humor. More concerned for the happiness of others, he would put their needs ahead of his own and would always find away to show those he cared about that he loved them.. Eric was also a very skilled at drawing and wished to use his talents to become an artist. Eric attended Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High in June 2010 . As a high school student Eric joined the the incentive Mentoring program where he spent timeserving community. In 2010. he was awarded the Unsung Heroes Award by Sisters Saving the City. Inc for to his community to service. He attended Mountain State University in West Virginia as a graphics design major for two years. Eric returned to Community College of Baltimore County and worked very hard at a restaurant job Eric continued to grow his artistic abilities and planning his next steps for his college education, which included his commitment to art. Eric was a very loyal and honoring young. If you were his friends he was there for you no matter what. He never judged, he just loved. He was carefree, loved life. was funny and a joy to a be around. He was the life of every party. Everyone who knew Eric loved and respected him. Eric loved his family always came first. He and his mother were extremely close and people would often mistake them for brother and sister; they were alike in so many ways. Embracing the role as a big brother, he supported nurtured and dearly loved his little brother Jaelen, and there was nothing he would not do for him. He cherished his late grandfather, who left an everlasting impression on him and a legacy Eric wanted to continue. He wanted to be just like his Grandfather, also known as “Bobby”. Who preceded him in death. Eric leaves to mourn his mother Erica Pettis, his father Thomas Cook step-father Joseph Bryant, his brother Jalen Bryant, three grandmothers, Frankie Pettis, Carolyn Purcell and Mary Bryant one grandfather, , Carthon Bryant, one uncle George Pettis Jr., one aunt Adrienne Melton, close cousin, Ryan Pettis and other siblings, three Godmothers,Nanette Estep, Dawn Cottman and Nicole Boyd; special Ashley Manning and his Incentive Mentoring program family.
