Emmett N. Reynolds

Emmett Nathaniel Reynolds was born April 15, 1929, one of fourteen children born to the union of the late Nathaniel and Lucy Reynolds. He was suddenly called home September 30, 2004. Emmett attended school in Nottaway County, Va. At an early age Emmett quit school to help his father on the farm. Emmett registered for the United States Army January 24, 1951 and completed active duty until January 7, 1953. He returned to Crewe, Va. where the love of his life, Mildred Rather, lived. Emmett and Mildred moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey and were united in marriage in Baltimore, Maryland on June 24, 1953. Out of this union, three children were born. Emmett was employed and retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. Emmett was a devoted husband and father. He loved and cherished his wife, children, grand kids and great-grand kids. His greatest joys besides his family, were playing baseball and softball, hunting and fishing. One of the highlights of his life was sharing stories about his fishing trips and how much fun he had with his fishing buddies. Emmett was a hard worker and he saw to it that nothing was too good for his family. Emmett loved so many and touched many hearts with words of wisdom and inspiration. Emmett knew God and was spiritually prepared to return home to his Father in heaven. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves to mourn: his wife, Mildred Reynolds; (he was preceded in death by his son Kenton D. Reynolds), his two daughters, Denise D. Gordon and Jacquelyn K. Johnson; four stepdaughters, Karen Rather, Vernon Lynn, Petra Johnson (Peechie) and Michelle Wallace; his stepsons, John Lynn (Nervy), Robert Farmer (Bobby), four sons-in-law, Raymond Gayden, Joe Johnson Jr., Vincent Gordon and Philip Taylor; six grandkids, Kenya, Michael, Easlan, Tekeyah, Tanji and Rashad; eight great-grandkids, Chet'lin, Mike Jr., Erick, Xavier, Emoni, Rakerra, Janya; one great-grandson to be born in October. He also leaves two brothers, Jesse Reynolds and wife, Hazel, and Bobby Reynolds; two sisters, Omelia Jackson and Melvina Brooks; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives; his fishing buddies, Pee Wee, Raymond, Morris, Marc, Greg and many more; his hunting buddies and a host of many, many special friends. Emmett wanted everyone to know and especially his family that he lived a good life and did everything he wanted to do. He knows we will cry after he passes on, but he said, "Don't cry too long." His life was good, he knew God, he loved us all and we have our lives to live. He will be greatly missed, but we will see him again on the golden streets of Hallelujah Square.
