Elwood Pryor

REMEMBERING ELWOOD One of God's faithful servants has now returned home.... His Beginning Mr. Elwood Pryor was born November 1, 1948 in New Kent ,VA, to Rosetta Johnson. He was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather, Thomas Johnson. Sr; siblings, brother Thomas Johnson, Jr. and sister Gloria Johnson. His Life As a child, he joined Union Baptist Church of New Kent, VA, where he served faithfully as an Usher, Trustee, and Treasurer. Elwood was educated in the New Kent County Public School System and a 1967 graduate of Georhr W. Watkins School, In 1968, he went on to serve in the United States Army. Elwood was a veteran of the Vietnam War era. Following his honorable discharge, he started his career with Dominion Energy(formally known as Vepco). During this time, he was able to advance into a supervisor' position before retiring after 39 years. On September 2, 1972, he united in marriage with Ann Deloris Wallace of Hanover County. After years of marriage with Ann Deloris Wallace of Hanover County. After years of marriage together they established the existing A&E Cleaning Services. Elwood had a passion for baseball, running, cooking, and fishing. His baseball legacy included playing for the New Kent Braves and Hanover Giants where he enjoyed his position as a Pitcher. As an avid runner, he has received numerous medals for participating in local runs. During family functions, you could always find him around fryers cooking fishing and chicken in his red apron. After retirement, you could find Elwood and Ann on any given day out on the water with their stram hats enjoying themselves fishing. His Legacy Elwood leaves to cherish fond memories his wife of 51 years, Ann Deloris Pryor; two brothers, Marvin Johnson(Shelia) and Larry Johnson; three sisters, Jeanette Brown, Shirley Miles, and Linda Archie; devoted God-daughters(nieces), Nicole Crawley (Wayne),TaWanda Gallon (Andre ) and Charmaine Johnson (Augustin); brother-in-law, James Wallace (Shirley) two sisters-in-law, Shelia Wallace and Joyce Carter, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
