Elsie Johnson Crump

Elsie Yvonne Johnson Crump, 71, of Charles City County, Virginia, peacefully transitioned from this life. She was born January 16, 1955, to the late Stanley H. Johnson Sr. and Elsie V. Johnson. A lifelong resident of Charles City County, Elsie was baptized at Cedar Grove Baptist Church and educated in the Charles City County Public School System, graduating with the Class of 1973. She married her high school sweetheart, Aubrey James Crump, on April 27, 1974, and together they shared over 50 years of love and devotion. To this union, one son, Aubrey James “AJ” Crump, Jr., was born. Elsie dedicated over 40 years of service to the United States Postal Service, where she was known for her kindness, strong work ethic, and warm spirit. Beyond her career, she embraced life with joy and creativity. She had a deep love for the Washington Commanders, faithfully cheering them on with enthusiasm. She found peace and happiness in fishing, cherished the beauty and grace of horses, and expressed her heart through poetry and art. A gifted creative, Elsie used her words and artistic talents to inspire, reflect, and bring beauty into the lives of those around her. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found her greatest joy in her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Charles H. Johnson, Sr., and Stanley H. Johnson, Jr.; sister-in-love, Delphine A. “Phiney” Crump; and nephew, Christopher Johnson. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Aubrey J. Crump, Sr.; her son, Aubrey “AJ” Crump, Jr.; her grandchildren, Marqel, Joshua, Jordan, Alyvia, Justin, and bonus granddaughter, Rain; brothers, James T. Johnson (Brenda), Linwood A. Johnson (Sandra), Clarence E. Johnson (Paulette), and Robert A. Johnson (Shelia); sisters-in-love, Helmira Johnson and Gayle Crump; brothers-in-love, Larry Crump (Carolyn) and Gary Crump; one aunt, Lucille Jones; nieces, Jamie Smith (Weldon), Tara “Tee” Johnson, Mary “Gan” Boyd (Van), Elsie Johnson (Steve), Rachel Johnson, Courtney Crawley, and Jual Kelly; nephews, Clarence “CJ” Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Damon Johnson, Frederick “Freddie” Johnson (Torri), Morgan Johnson, Montrell Johnson (Lindsey), Charles “Junnie” Johnson, Jr., Julius Johnson, Keith Crump (Radiance), Marcel Crump, and Charles Crump; and a host of other relatives and friends.
