Eloise L. Demory

ELOISE LYONS DEMORY daughter of the late Richard Howard and Mary Florence Trotman Lyons was born on November 29, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland. A very special rose was picked from the garden on November 6, 2005 at 6:35pm at Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, Maryland. Eloise’s only brother, the late Ronald Lyons preceded her in death and she is survived by her only sister, Deborah Lyons Smith.Eloise was fondly known as “Sister” and was known for her patience and gentle manner. She had a simple beautiful smile that showed just how much she cared. Eloise grew up in a loving and caring home environment and her relationship wither parents was one that offered her much affection, love and security. As a young child, she was baptized at White Stone Baptist in Baltimore. Her parents made sure that she attended church every Sunday. Their fine example of home life set the stage for the manner in which Eloise would raise her family.She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Edmondson Senior High School in June 1963. She attended and completed two years at Coppin State Teachers College in Baltimore, Maryland.At a very young age, Eloise met and married Phillip Xavier Griffin and although their marriage ended in divorce, she had two daughters, Tara and Maria (Dump) and a son named David (Bubbles).In 1970, Eloise met and fell in love with the “Love of Her Life”, John Albert Demory. They had a lasting and loving relationship that existed for more than 35 years. In 1973, one bouncing, baby girl was born from this union, Danielle (Dainty).For many years, John and Eloise traveled in out of the United States. They also took family trips with their children to Kings Dominion, Hershey Park, Connecticut and Florida. Family birthday celebrations and Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays were times of great sharing and fun for their household. Providing a loving and caring environment for their family was most important to their way of life. Eloise adored her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and stepchildren. The word “Family” to Eloise was an inclusive word. She was very family oriented-a very loving, caring and wonderful mother who had strong family values and continuously went beyond the call of duty to care for her loved ones.Eloise was an equally dedicated and loving daughter to her late mother, Mary. There were many occasions when Eloise provided transportation for the many shopping trips to the grocery store where she and her mother would shop until they dropped. You would easily come across them at Giant’s Food store around 11:30pm on any given weeknight filling not one but two shopping carts with groceries. Other favorite past times included listening to the gospel radio station on Heaven 600, shopping at the malls and eating out at nice restaurants.Eloise joined Mt. Moriah Baptist in 1989. She was a very dedicated member of the church and the Green Perpetual Club. She enjoyed attending her club meetings and social gatherings.In December 2003, John and Eloise were united in Holy Matrimony at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in a beautiful wedding ceremony, which was followed by a lovely wedding reception for their closest family and friends. Eloise was a very beautiful bride! It was very special for her wedding ceremony to be held at her church home. She felt so blessed to be married where she had received so much love, acceptance and support through fellowship with her church family.Eloise’s lifelong career entailed employment for a short period of time at the Baltimore City School System’s Disabled Kids Program. She left the school system to become employed with the State of Maryland’s Unemployment Compensation program. Later Eloise transferred to the State of Maryland’s Department of Social Work where she was employed for 31 years. She was well love and respected by her clients showing their appreciation to her for helping them with their problems. In December 2003, she elected to take an early retirement so she would be able to properly care for her ailing mother and husband.She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted and loving husband, John Demory: her children, Tara Michie, Maria Grifrin, David Griffin and Danielle Dower; her grandchildren, Tyrease, Sadé, Tiffany , Alysha, DawnBria and Solomon; her great grandsons, Del/Marco and Kaiyon; her sister, Deborah; her brother-in-law, Michael, Sr; her stepchildren, Sharon, Denise, Michelle and Ronald; her sisters-in-law, Mary, Harriett, Martha and Ella Mae; her sons-in-law, David and Keith; nieces, Kelly and Kimberlyn; nephews, Marcus and Michael Jr.; her great nephews, Isaiah and Josiah and a host of cousins and devoted friends.
