Eloise Patricia Dewese

Eloise Patricia "Mamma" Dewese was called to eternal rest on Friday, July 25, 2025. Eloise was born on June 20, 1952,in Lynchburg,South Carolina, to the late Paul and Ethel Fullwood. At a young age, she moved with her family to Richmond,Virginia,and later relocated to New York City with her mother and sisters. It was there she met her beloved husband, the late Leon Dewese. Their partnership was built on a deep love for family, rooted in faith and devotion. Throughout her life, Patricia cared for five children with strength, selflessness, and a quiet grace:Sharmane Bell, Lakesha Dewese-Dixon,Leon Dewese,Jr.,and Lena Dewese-Corley. Her care extended far beyond her children. To her 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, she was known as "Mamma." To her sisters,Sabrina Fullwood,Ahwasta Thompson, and Debra Fullwood,she was known as "Trish" and "Mrs. Pat" to friends and neighbors who respected and adored her. She returned to Richmond in June 2005, where she dedicated many years to working as a childcare teacher at Fifth Baptist Daycare,finding joy in nurturing young minds and brightening little hearts. Her love for children was unmatched,patient,gentle, and full of delight. Her creativity was something truly special. Patricia loved crafting, from handmade decorations to thoughtful gifts, and she always had a project in the works. Whether it was creating something beautiful with her hands or sharing a fun activity with a child, her imagination and talent left a lasting impression on everyone around her. She was witty,loveable, and generous beyond words, the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back. She loved to tell stories, but even more, she loved to hear yours.Patricia had a rare gift of making everyone feel seen,heard, and loved. One of her most beloved trademarks was her signature red lipstick,bold,vibrant, and confident just like her. It was her little touch of glamour that brightened every room she entered and reminded everyone that even in simplicity, there was strength and beauty. That red lipstick was more than makeup; it was a symbol of Patricia's fearless spirit, her zest for life,and the colorful warmth she brought into the lives of everyone she met. She is survived by her children,siblings, a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a wide and cherished extended family of nieces,nephews,cousins, church family, and dear friends. Patricia was especially blessed to have been lovingly cared for during her final days by her devoted granddaughter,Taquisha Bell. Taquisha was a constant presence providing compassionate,unwavering care,tending to her grandmother day in and day out with patience and deep love. Taquisha's selflessness and kindness will forever be remembered as a reflection of the love Patricia nurtured throughout her life. Though she is no longer with us in body,her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the memories we hold dear.
