Elnora Wardlow

Elnora Wardlow, daughter of the late William and Eliza Jones, was born on September 20, 1940. She was the sixth of eight children. During the morning of August 20, 2018, the Lord called Elnora home. Elnora was born in Fairfield County, South Carolina. Her family moved to Baltimore, Maryland when she was a young child. She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. Elnora graduated from the Paul Laurence Dunbar High School and then went on to graduate from Morgan State University. Elnora met and was joined in holy matrimony to Robert Wardlow. From this union one son, William Dante Wardlow, was born. They were married for sixty years. Elnora was a hard-working woman who was dedicated to her work. She was employed by the Social Security Administration for over thirty years until she retired in 1996. After retirement, Elnora did not lose her work ethic. She became the church administrator at Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church for many years. At an early age, Elnora accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She attended the New Pilgrim Baptist Church. In 1982, she became a charter member of the Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. At Greater Gethsemane Elnora served as the church clerk, member of the Sanctuary Choir, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher, member of the Manna Ministry and member of the Deaconess Board. Elnora was very active in ministry and loved her church and church family. Elnora was a creative and stylish person. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics, and cooking. Elnora sewed garments for herself, loved ones and church ministries. She created ceramic pieces that family and friends still cherish to this day. Peoole looked forward to Elnora’s coconut cake and chocolate mousse. Her fashion sense was impeccable. Elnora loved her family and friends very much and will be greatly missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband, Robert Wardlow; her beloved son, William Wardlow; her brother, James Jones; her sisterin-law, Clara Wardlow and companion Milton Swan; her brother-in-law, Fred Marrow and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
