Elnora Arlean Jiggetts

Elnora Arlean Jiggetts, the 13th and youngest child of the late Lee and Octavia Jordan, was born on November 2, 1920, in Hanover County, Virginia. She departed this life on October 12, 2017 after battling Altheimer's. Most of her family and friends called her Arlean. She received a grade school education in Virginia public schools. Leaving Virginia in the early l940's, she came to Baltimore and made it her home. Arlean later joined the New St. Mark Baptist Church and served for a time with the Nurses of Mercy. Arlean married Clinton Earl Jiggetts Sr. on November 5, 1945. They became the parents of six children. Unfortunately, they lost one son, Barry, in infancy. Arlean became a widow in 1991 after 46 years of marriage. She came to live with her daughter and family in 1998 where she remained until her passing. Arlean was a dedicated mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She also held various jobs in her life time. She worked in laundry. She did factory work at the old Western Electric as well as domestic work. In her last job, she worked as a Psychiatric Nurse's Aide at Crownsville gtate Hospital from which she retired in 1983. Arlean devoted a great portion of her life especially after retiring to taking care of her grandchildren and traveling. She spent extended stays in both Hawaii and Florida with her daughter and family. She also enjoyed watching baseball and football games. Arlean was the Baltimore Orioles' biggest fan. She also loved playing cards and telling jokes. Arlean leaves to cherish her memory: five children, Clinton Earl Jiggetts Jr., Sharon Artlean Jones, Stanley, Gary Lee, and Gregory Jiggetts; six grandchildren, Tracie and Clinton Jiggetts, Brandon and Barry Jones, Takisha Diggs, and Felicia Larose; two honorary grandchildren, Mikie Foster and Shannon Brown; five great-grandchildren, Carri and Carter Jiggetts, Truth Jones, Christian Diggs, and Paige Larose; one honorary great-grandchild, David Johnson; daughter-in-law, Gloria Jiggetts; son-inlaw, William Larry Jones; two honorary daughters-in-law, Tina Burrell and Nancy Hughes; sisters-in-law, Julia Archer and Ruby Jiggetts; one brother-in- law, Fitzhugh Ralph Mason Sr.; and a host of relatives and friends
