Ella Betsy Miller Mitchell

Obituary Our beloved Ella Betsy Miller Mitchell was graced with life on June 4, 1917 in Augusta County, Virginia to the late Mary and Luther Miller. She moved from this earthly home to her heavenly home on August 21, 2012. She is preceded in death by her sons, Hurley and Robert Williams; daughters, Delores Washington and Pattie Miller; three grandsons, Steven Miller, Michael Barber and Caden Williams; one sister, Annabelle Johnson and a brother, Harry Miller. Her church home was Pleasant View United Methodist Church, where she served as the mother of the church. During her years of service, Ella faithfulness shined as a great example of what it means to be a willing, humble and joyful ambassador for Christ in the earth. Ella was educated in the Augusta County School System. She was formerly employed by Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center for over thirty years. After retiring from cooking most of her life, she enjoyed entertaining family and friends and was known as a woman that was loving to her grandkids that she adored. She was loved for her cooking, and a strong-willed woman that always made her point when she spoke. Her accomplishments and achievements are great and certainly too many to name; however if asked, she would say her greatest achievement was being a mom, grandmother (several times over) and serving the Lord. Nothing was more important to Ella than God and family. Her life has always been trusted in the Lord and she reared her children to have a personal relationship with God. She leaves to cherish her memories and legacy to one daughter, JoAnn Barber, one son, Charles Barbour (Kathy); 14 grandchildren, Cassandra Barber (Wayland Stallings), Latayna Long (Matthew), Crystal Williams (Richard White), Debra Williams, Loretta Brown (Earl), Karen Curry (Arthur), Zane Kier, Qiana Brinson, Ryan Barbour (Antionette), Shawn Fuller, Jermaine Matthews, Shelia Carmen and DeWayne White; 14 great great-grandchildren; 23 great great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Cauls and Nellie Washington; two brothers, William Miller (Charlotte) and Alphonso Miller (Bernice); daughter-in-law, Rosie Williams and a host of other relatives and special friends.
