Ella Williams

Ella Williams, daughter of the late Albert and Mary Jane (Edwards) Williams, was born on April 3, 1915, in Monroe County, Alabama. She departed this life on October 7, 2015. Ella obeyed the gospel in 1932, in Pensacola, Florida. Mamie Holmes was one of her Sunday school teachers. It was there where she met Mamie's son, Thomas Lee Williams. Ella and Thomas Lee were married on January 16, 1934, in Pensacola, Florida. Thomas Lee departed this life on June 10, 1974 and Mamie on April 17, 1976. Six children were born from this union: Thomas Dwight; Gwendolyn (Eugene Baptist); Mary (Jerry Roney, Sr); Walter, Sr. (Rhonda Hill); Kai; Eric Sr.; and a special daughter, Kim (Randolph Bryant). Walter, Sr. preceded her in death on June 8, 2002. She received her education in the Alabama School System. Ella was a professional pastry chef. She could make an exceptional meal from ingredients that would perplex most. She invited many to her table, and would declare that as long as she fed others her pot would never be empty; and God saw to it that it was always full. The Lord loved he and she loved the Lord. Her joy was to care for children, many of whom were not her own. She attended the Church of Christ in Pensacola, Florida. In 1956, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she attended Churches on Gilmore Street; Bloomingdale Road; Pitcher Street; and, finally Woodridge Road (Central). Central would send a bus to her home every Sunday morning and she would fill it with her children, her grandchildren, children she cared for in her home, and children from her neighborhood. She loved them all, and they loved her back. The Lord gave her a kind and gently spirit which was displayed in the manner in which she lived her life. All who knew her can attest that she would never speak an ill word against anyone. She encouraged her children to remember that love is what matters most in life. She lived her life by example using few words, but many deeds to show them how to live in love. God gave her one hundred years, six months and four days in this world. She is preceded in death by: her father and mother as well as all of her siblings, Mamie (Spencer Tucker), Andrew (Mattie Wiggins), John Neal (Carrie Snider), Lydia (Roberts Tann), Coleman (Annie Pearl Cooper), Lester, Sr. (Sarah Campbell), and Alvin (Geraldine Brown). She is also preceded in death by her dear friend, Lillian Foster. After a long, full life, she leaves: five of her six children to mourn her passing. She leaves her grandchildren, Jerry, Jr. (Dena), Terresa (Augustus), Walter, Jr., Donte', Laura, Erica, Tarik, Luis, Carmin, Alisha, Erica, Eric, Jr., and Melissa. She leave twenty-three great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews; and a host of loving relatives and dear friends. She leaves on special aunt, Willie Pearl Jones of Summerdale, Alabama.
