Elizabeth Louise McBride

Mrs. Elizabeth L. Wallace McBride, of Charles City, Virginia, by way of New York answered the Masters call on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. She was born to the union of the late Josiah B. Wallace and Ethel B. Wallace of Charles City. She was married to the late George McBride on October 23, 1935. She attended public school in Charles City County. She joined Little Elam Baptist Church at an early age. She later moved to New Rochelle, NY where she lived for 70+ years and worshipped at Bethesda Baptist Church. Her springs and summers were spent gardening, growing flowers and vegetables which she made beautiful flower arrangements and can goods. Her pickled watermelon rind was to die for. She enjoyed cooking and was well known for her delicious Beef Wellington with Yorkshire Pudding and all types of desserts. In addition to her being a stickler for being on time, when she says dinner would be served at 3 o’clock she meant 3 o’clock NOT 3:01. She was an avid reader and could complete the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle without batting an eye. She loved to crochet and made gorgeous dollies and table cloths. She was a jokester, who could keep you in stitches all day. She is survived by a devoted niece and caregiver Barbara C. Crawley, (John Jr.)of Charles City, Valarie Brown of Henrico, Gayle Carter (Jimmy) of New York and Mary Douglas of Ossining, NY. Four nephews Robert A. Charity, Jr. (Barbara), H. Hugo Charity of Charles City, Barry W. Charity and Melvin R. Charity (Molly) of Richmond. Dedicated Great Nephews, Gregory Douglas (Jessica) of Sacramento, CA and Stevie Douglas (Wanda) of Durham, NC. Dedicated Great Nieces, Chee and Tammy, Sisters-in-law, Doris Taylor, and Helen Banks, (Walter) of New Rochelle, NY. Caregiver and friend Edith Smith, a host of many more nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Missing You Always You never said I'm leaving You never said Goodbye, You were gone before we knew it And only God knows why. A million times we needed you A million times we cried, If love alone could have saved you You never would have died. In life we loved you dearly In death we love you still, In our heart we hold a place That only you can fill.
