Elizabeth E. Foster

“We give Thee but Thine own, whatever the gift may be, all that we have is Thine alone-a trust, O Lord, from Thee.”Elizabeth Eleanor Edmonds Foster, daughter of the late Lina Belle and Samuel Edmonds, was born on April 15, 1907 in Littleton, North Carolina. She was the third of sixteen children. She left her earthly home on November 28, 2004 to her reward.In 1930, Elizabeth relocated to Baltimore, Maryland to live with her brother, Roger. There she met and married Preston Foster on January 16, 1932. From this union four children were born: Preston Jr., Selena Estella, Jerrelle Irene and Monwilla Deborah.Elizabeth accepted Christ at the age of twelve at the Lee’s Chapel Church in Littleton, NC. She was a member of the choir at an early age and became the directress of the choir at age twenty.Elizabeth joined the Zion Baptist church in 1934 under the leadership of its founder, Rev. Matthew Wilkerson. An active member of Zion, she was president of the Gospel Choir for twenty years, president of the Willing Workers, member of the Missionary Society, Sunday School and the Golden Age Ministry.She loved to sing and became a member of the Eastside Musical Guild and the Christian Crusader Greater Harvest-both spiritual singing groups. Elizabeth was an honorary member of the Bennett Bells because of her support of the Bennett College Scholarship Fund.Elizabeth was really born before her time. She could make a hat out of nothing. Give her a brick and she could build a house. She also loved to travel, and the highlight trip for her was visiting the Bahamas.Elizabeth’s memory is cherished by: her children, Preston Foster Jr., Selena Foster Redd, Jerrelle Foster Francois and Monwilla Foster Gibson; son-in-law, Malcolm Francois; daughter-in-law, Marian Foster; grandchildren, Preston Foster III, Devin L. Pulley Sr., Tolanda Thaniel, Glenn Foster, Kyle Foster, Veronica Jones and Barbara Foster; great-grandchildren, Tanya C. Pulley, Montell Foster, Donte Foster, Jamaal Foster, Christopher Woods, and Kevin Pulley, Jr.; great-great-grandchildren, Diana Foster, Christopher Foster, and Matthew Woods; two sisters, Jessie Williams and Mary Fowlkes; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Edmonds and Bessie Edmonds; second mother to her brother Roger’s children, Velma (deceased), Roger Jr. and Louis; godchild, Mark Reid; extended children, Geneva, John Ernestine, Dorothy and Juanita; care provider, Esther Walker; host of nieces, nephews and friends, all of whom she called “”Her Children”.“Over the sunset mountains, someday I’ll softly go into the arms of Jesus, He who has loved me so.”- PetersonTHE FAMILY
