Elijah Wilson

Elijah Wilson, son of the late Elder Sandy, Sr. and Rebecca Wilson, was born May 20, 1928 in Honey Hill, SC, the oldest brother of fourteen siblings. He departed this life on March 16, 2017. Elijah received his formal education in the Berkeley County Public School system in Jamestown, SC. At an early age, Elijah accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at Jehovah Holiness Church in Schuylerville, SC where he was a faithful servant as a Sunday school teacher. Upon his journey to Baltimore in 1948, he joined First Apostolic Faith Church in Baltimore. Later, Elijah joined Kingdom Worship Center (formerly known as Bethel Holy Tabernacle) under the leadership of Bishop Ralph L. Dennis where he faithfully served as an Usher and was later ordained as a Deacon in 1994. In 2006, he transferred his membership to New Antioch Holiness Church to support his nephew, Pastor Michael Wilson, until his illness in 2011. In 1949, Elijah married Elizabeth Rebecca Coleman. From this union five children were born: Christopher Elijah, Agnes Gloria, Yvonne Carol (preceded him in death), Roderick Kevin and Terrie Elizabeth. Elijah was a devoted man who enjoyed vacationing, spending time with his family and taking his daily walks. In 1951 he decided to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. After an honorable discharge in 1953, he began working at Bethlehem Steel and later began his career of 33 years as a transit driver at the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in Baltimore City until his retirement. Elijah was an “Entrepreneur at heart”. He enjoyed several business ventures to include Amway Products, Primerica Life Insurance, Prepaid Legal and was known as the “Noni Juice Man”. He was also member of the “Decent Dozen”, with a group of friends from the MTA. Elijah leaves a family thankful to God for allowing them to share his love and celebrate his memories: His devoted children, two sons, Christopher Elijah and Roderick Kevin; one son in law, William Alston; two daughters, Agnes Gloria Gross and Terrie Elizabeth Brunson; his wife, Mary; three brothers, Arthur Lee (Reola), Sandy Jr. (Mahilda) and Oscar Lee (Ida); two sisters, Bertha Mae Levine and Mazie Greene (Friendly); eighteen grandchildren, fifty-three great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews and relatives.
