Eleanora L. Lee

ELEANORE LOUISE LEE, daughter of Everett Snellings and Minnie B. Rowe, was born on May 14, 1935 in Raleigh, North Carolina. She departed this life on June 16, 2008. Eleanore, who was lovingly called "Mama" by many in her family and extended family, received her education at Soller's Point High School in Turner Station, Maryland. She built an impressive career of more than twenty years of service as a Medical Clerk at North Charles General Hospital in Maryland.In 1982, she married Joseph C. Lee, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Ann Hartfield.Upon her retirement, Eleanore was blessed to have the opportunity to fully devote her life to her passion for caring for others. She was a tireless and thoughtful mother, grandmother, friend, and nurturer to those around her, happily providing her delicious home-cooked meals, entertaining companionship, and boundless love to anyone in need and in reach.Those who knew her best would never argue that Eleanore was certainly one who spoke her mind, offering up a healthy dose of the kind of honesty that only a woman with her loved ones' best interest at heart could give. As an intense lover of people and family, she was happiest at family gatherings and celebrations, and always enjoyed having everyone together no matter what the occasion.She was a strong woman, who lived by her favorite Bible scriptures, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear. The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid.With the passing of Eleanore, our family, our community, and our world has truly been forever dimmed by the loss of this bright and enduring light.Left to cherish Eleanore's memory are: her mother, Minnie B. Rowe; aunt, Violet Whye; uncle Ernest L. Winston; one daughter, Theodora "Toni" Burroughs (son-in-law Tim Burroughs); three sons, Jacob Arnold Reed, Thaddeus Thorton and Charlie W. Byrd III; three sisters, Shirley Campbell, Barbara Rowe and Debbie Barhart (brother-in-law Don Barhart); three brothers, Gerald Rowe (sister-in-law Diane Rowe), Phillip Rowe (sister-in-law Stephanie Rowe) and James Rowe; ten grandchildren, Paradise Patterson (grandson-in-law Lateef Patterson), Amanda Burroughs, Neciya Byrd, Cory Brown (granddaughter-in-law Yvette Brown), August Hartsfield, Aneika Dyneshia Reed, Dilen McPhreson Reed, Jeremy Arnold Reed and Derek Thorton; one great-grandchild, Alexander Brown; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and clear friends
