Effie J. Cormley

EFFIE JEAN CORMLEY (born Effie Jean Green) the loving daughter of the late Sadie and Buster Green was born on March 4, 1941 in North Carolina. The beloved Effie was called home on June 12, 2020 Effie received her education at Dunbar High School in Baltimore MD. Effie was known as an avid reader, and often enjoyed reading novels in her spare time. She was a lover of classic movies, and music, a passion that she passed down to her children, and grandchildren. Early on in life Effie accepted Jesus Christ as her lord and savior, and as a result she became a devoted Catholic. On Sundays she loved attending mass and was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. When Effie was a young child, she moved to Baltimore Maryland to live with her father, Buster; stepmother, Martha; and her younger sisters and brother. Effie always spoke fondly of her siblings and cherished the moments that she spent with them. While living in Baltimore, Effie met the man who would eventually become her husband, the late Earl Cormley. (who was affectionately known as Boose.) Effie and Boose were blessed with six children and spent many happy years together until the Lord called Boose home. Effie worked for the Social Security Administration and retired after thirty-eight years of service. She was extremely proud of this accomplishment. Effie was a kindhearted person who valued spending time with her family above all. Effie always enjoyed traveling with her friends and cooking delicious meals for her family. She was also known for her world famous “Potato Salad”. Effie would often lend a helping hand, or a listening ear to anyone in need. For such a small woman in stature, she had a large presence, and an even larger smile that was always accompanied by a laugh that you could hear a mile away. The family will cherish the memory loving heart, and her generous nature. Effie is preceded in death by her husband Earl, three children Warner Green, Urainna(Peter) Green, Troy Cormley; two brothers Buster Jr, Richard, and one sister Mary Alice. Effie leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter Robin Brinkley; two sons Earl, and Reginald Cormley; four sisters Annie, Charlotte, Jeanette and Alexzenia. One sister-in-law, Bernice, two brothers-in-law, Dennis and James. Ten grandchildren; Johnny, Reginald, Tocarra, Troy, Earl, Rodsha, Te’Shauna, Regine, Quiera, Aaron, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
