Edward Wright

EDWARD WRIGHT was born on April 14, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Lillian Wright and Cumberland Richardson.He received his education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. He was baptized at Sharp Street United Methodist Church. He later married the late Joyce Stewart in 1953. Ed was employed at Sparrows Point for forty years before he retired in 1994.Known to his family and friends as “Ed,” he spent his time watching old western movies and telling jokes. You knew he liked you when he gave you his own personal nickname. His grandchildren called him “Pop-Pop.” He loved spending time with them and made sure they wanted for nothing. He would tell anybody “I work for my grandchildren.” He spent his Sunday mornings with “Man-Man” at the Farmer’s Market. He also had a favorite nephew “Boobie” who was there for him whenever he needed help.Edward leaves to mourn his passing: two sisters, Cornelia Coleman and Elaine Richardson; four brothers, Robert Wright, Paul Richardson of Montgomery, Alabama, Allen Richardson and Cumberland Richardson (Juice); seven children, Cynthia Hall, Edward D. Wright, Benjamin Wright (preceded him in death), Rudy Collins, Steven Matthews, Edward Matthews and Melvin Matthews; eleven grandchildren, Jolanda Martin, Trazena Wright (preceded him in death), Nairobi Collins, Nicole Wright, Andre Collins, Sandra Hall, Angel Smith, Gregory T. Hall Jr., Steven Matthews II, Kenneth Matthews and a granddaughter in the U.S. military; thirteen great-grandchildren, Cherelle Ward, Chantelle Wright, Jolanda Collins, Ja’Nai Townes, Alar Smith, Jr., Angel Moss, Kamron Hall, Steven Matthews III and five more great-granddaughters; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Wright and Ernestine Matthews; two sisters-in-law, Laurease Richardson (Jackie) and Maple Richardson of Montgomery, Alabama; two grandsons-in-law, Camar Hall and Alar Smith Sr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.POP-POPEven though you left us physically, you will always be with us spiritually. The memories that we shared together will never fade. The Lord has called you home, for He knew better than we that you were going to a better place. But we will see you again one day.
