Edward R. Stewart Jr.

Ed made his impression on this world by way of his birth through the late Jessie E. Brown and the late Edward R. Stewart, Sr on June 7, 1958, and he received his heavenly glory by way of departure from this life on November 16, 2023. Ed grew up in the City of Baltimore but most of his growing years were in Cherryhill. He received his education in the Baltimore City Public Schools – Cherryhill High School #180 and Diggs Johnson Senior High School #162. After Senior High School, he was employed at several Food Chain Corporations as a Supervisor and worked at various jobs as a Custodian. Ed had a good heart and was a loving person with a happy-go-lucky spirit. He enjoyed laughing and having fun. He had a pleasant personality and he loved watching Kungfu and Karate movies. He was truly a Karate fanatic. He was so inspired by Bruce Lee “flicks” that he would walk around outside with his shirt off, going up and down the streets, making the karate sounds like Bruce Lee, with his chest sticking out and his nun chucks in his waistband, hoping somebody would dare to challenge him with a non-violent Karate spar. If anyone did accept the Karate challenge, Ed would win, which made him believe that much more, that he was a true Bruce Lee student that could not be defeated. Ironically Ed grew into a man who did not like a lot of arguing, fussing or real fighting. He was too clean and too cool to involve himself in such a manner. Ed was a sharp dresser, very neat and always kept his attire together. He would spend hours ironing his clothes and getting his outfit ready to wear for the next day. He would bathe, Vaseline his skin from head to toe, groom his face hair with Magic Shaving powder, that would make the whole house smell like rotten eggs, but when he finished all his prepping in the mirror, he thought he was the most handsome, then he would go out into the neighborhood and “woo” the ladies. Ed fathered seven children, one preceded him in death (Davon).. He loved all his children and would do his best to help them however he could. It hurt him in his heart when he could not be there for them. Ed did not allow or like anyone to talk about his kids. He was quiet in his spirit, but he would buck his eyes and say “you say what" when it came to defending his children. Ed loved his family, his parents, siblings, and friends. his lady friends (each one had a special and unique place in his heart). After dating and establishing a bond, Cynthia became the love of his life and they married on June 9, 2017. Ed kept in contact with one of his buddies from Cherry Hill, Tyrice, who he called “flat rock”, and he maintained a close relationship with his cousin (brother-like friend) Larry. In 2008, Ed came to the crossroad where he made the best decision of his life. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was a “changed man”. To God Be the Glory! Amen. He leaves to mourn: Ed is survived by his wife Cynthia; his ‘main man’ Denim; brother, Tyrone(Dot); sisters, LaVerne and Karen; sons, Edward(Eddie), Tyrone(Ty) and Jamal(Chucky) daughters, Jasam(Jas), Sheree(Shanel) Evette and Step Daughter Shannel. Ed had 20 grandchildren, twelve boys, eight girls, one great granddaughter, and one adopted grandson, one Aunt, Shirley and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
