Edward Juderston Adair

On Monday, November 29, 2004, Edward (EDDIE) Juderston Adair firmly placed his hands into the Master's Hands and quietly slipped from this mortal life and entered into the glory and majesty of his Father's eternal kingdom. Edward (Eddie) J. Adair was born September 27, 1929 the eldest son of the late Eddie Adair, Sr. and Sereta Savage-Adair in Hare Valley, Virginia. His early Christian experience was gained at the New Allen Memorial A.M.E. Church in Franktown, Virginia. Upon locating to Baltimore, Maryland, he joined the Douglas Memorial Community Church where his membership remained until his death. He received his early education in the Northhampton County, Virginia Public School System, graduating from the Northhampton County High School in 1947. Eddie answered his country's call and served for six years, including the European Theater. He received an honorable discharge in 1954. Eddie began his work career in the garment industry in New York City. He retired in 1996 as a partner in Adair's Amoco Food Shops and Service Stations. Eddie's warm smile and gentlemanly personality won over many faithful customers. His heart of gold and words of wisdom endeared him to all who passed his way. His loyalty to his brother Carl in business affairs as well as brotherly love made for a partnership that was beautiful for all to see. Eddie was the epitome of a man; a devoted husband and father, always putting the well being and happiness of family above his own. His greatest passion was getting together with family. What joy to remember last September 25th when a host of family and friends gathered to celebrate his 75th birthday. All saluted him for his love and wisdom so willingly shared from his patriarch position. Many extended family members gravitated towards him because of his kindness and genuine care and concern. We all shall miss him and treasure so many wonderful memories. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of forty-one years, Dorothy Etheridge Adair; five sons, Glenn, Eddie, Keith, Marcus and Calvin; five grandchildren, Kia, Tenayia, Brittanous, Keith and Essence; great-grandchild, Damari; four brothers, Carl, Verdell, Quincy and Alvis; sister, Joyce; eight sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law; "adopted" daughters, Melissa and Felissa; lifetime cousin buddy, Randolph Rogers; and a host of very special cousins, other relatives, and friends.
