Edward W. Grant Sr.

On December 2, 1951, God created EDWARD WENDELL GRANT, SR. and entrusted his life to Edwin Grant and the late Delores Turner-Grant. Eddie, as he was affectionately called, went home to meet his Lord on December 11, 2012 after a brief illness. Eddie was raised on Mulberry Street in West Baltimore with his two sisters Linda and Gi-Gi and his two brothers Gerald and Milton, who lovingly called him Wendell. Eddie graduated from Baltimore City College and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in sociology from Morgan State College. Eddie was employed with the State of Maryland Department of Social Services as a Supervisor and retired after thirty years of faithful service. Eddie enjoyed his work and enjoyed working as a team player along with his co-workers; but the job that gave him the most fulfillment was spending time with his wife, Sandi, his four children, Kevin, Antoine, Edward Jr. and Keith and his grandchildren. Eddie was very proud of his children and loved them very much. Eddie loved to at and fancied himself a cook, his specialty being fried potatoes and onions. On many occasions you would hear him in the wee hours of the morning raiding the refrigerator only to wake up and find that he had eaten the last two pieces of fried chicken you had saved for yourself. Eddie received Christ at an early age and continued his spiritual journey throughout his life. Eddie made numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. Eddie was always a true friend and a devoted husband and father. On October 7, 1979, Eddie entered into a lasting bond with the love of his life, the former Sondera L. Bobbitt. Out of this union came four sons, Kevin, Antoine, Edward Jr. and Keith. Eddie leaves to honor and cherish his memory: his wife, Sondera L. Grant; four sons, Kevin, Antoine, Edward Jr. and Keith; his father, Edwin Grant; five brothers, Gerald, Milton, Darryl, Miles and Keenan; three sisters, Linda Dixon, Nadine Jackson and Bernadine Grant; eleven grandchildren, Marquise, Shandeira, Taylor, Karon, Tyler, Brianna, Tylon, Kenard, Kameren, Kylie and Leora; his grandmother, Annie Jackson; aunt, Emma Holley; daughter-in-law, Elaine; seven brothers-in-law, Nathaniel, Jerry, Larry, Clarence, Jerome, Terry and Henry; seven sisters-in-law, Lisa, Barbara, Carolyn, Brenda, Charlotte, Rose and Peggy; and a host of other relatives and friends.
