Edward L. Blake

Edward Lamont Blake, affectionately known as “Eddie”, son of the late Doris Blake and the late Bill Brown, was born on December 27, 1965 in Cambridge, Maryland. Eddie departed this earth on November 5, 2016 after living a joyful 50 years of life. Eddie moved to Baltimore, Maryland at a young age with is mom. As time passed, she entrusted him in the care of Dorothy and the late Marcel Kyler, who nurtured and guided him into his early teenage years. Eddie then met the late William “Bill” Day and they soon developed a father-son bond. Bill and his wife Peggy accepted Eddie into their home and raised him as if he was their own child. Eddie instantly involved himself into everything family. He was accepted by the immediate family as a son and brother and accepted as a relative by the extended families of both Bill and Peggy. Eddie attended Baltimore City Public Schools and had many odd jobs over the years, but he found his career path working at Chimes, Inc. He enjoyed what he did and was glad to be doing what he liked, driving trucks. But mostly, he loved doing what he did best, helping others. Eddie had a huge heart. He always showed love and compassion to everyone that crossed his path. Always with a bright smile, he kept everyone in stitches. Everyone mostly laughed at his foolishness, rather than laughing with him. He knew it, but it mattered not to Eddie because he accomplished his goal to leave an impression and put a smile on everyone’s face. At family gatherings Eddie was the host with the most. He catered to everyone’s needs and often went overboard with his “good service”. He was the life of any party. He loved to dance and talk plenty of smack. Eddie was such a unique individual that God surely broke the mold after He made him. To Eddie, his greatest accomplishment in life was his two children, Edesha and Eddie, Jr. He loved them immensely and would brag about them often to any and everyone. Although Eddie will be greatly missed by his family and friends, we thank God for the lives he was able to touch. His loving spirit will be with us always. Eddie leaves to treasure his memory: a loving daughter, Edesha Blake; a loving son, Edward Blake Jr.; five sisters, Debbie Blake, Theresa Blake-Saunders, Pamela Beasley, Stacia McPherson (Sherman) and Yvette Lynch (Marlon); one brother, Phillip Ball (Robin); two surrogate mothers, Dorothy Kyler and Peggy Day; his Godparents, Franklin and Bernadette “Cookie” Crockett; his God sisters, Francene Walker, Veronica “Peachie” Hairston and Jessica Watson; and a host of other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. One other special God sister, Renita Crockett, preceded him in death, but we know she was there to welcome him home.
