Edith Mae White Harvey

Legacy of Life Edith Mae White Harvey was born the daughter to the late William and Essie Wyatt Jones on September 19, 1940 in Richmond, Virginia. Edith affectionately known as EI, transitioned from this life to everlasting peace on Friday, February 8, 2019. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Jones; four sisters, Thelma Jones, Bertha Bowman, Frances Jones, and Annie Bowman; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Brown. Edith attended Charles City Public Schools and furthered her education at Smithville Massie College where she earned her degree in Business. She worked for Charles City/New Kent Community Action Agencies. Edith later received her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification license at Rutledge College where she worked at Williamsburg Community Hospital. Edith was an active member of Deliverance Temple Church until her health declined in 2017. Her spirit was one in a million. Edith was an awesome woman; giving her heart, soul and love. The lives that she impacted will have memories that all of us will cherish. She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories husband, Ben Harvey; children, Angela White Jackson (Donald), William White (Rosalyn), Paula Brown, Carla James, Wanda White, Stephanie White (Anthony), Dennis White (Lenora), Marvin (Lynn) White, Tonya Morris Womack (Tracy), and Gary White (Lynn); three sisters, Emma Black, Jean Christian (William) and Alice Christian; two brothers, William (Pat) and Dalton (Sharon) Jones; stepdaughter, Lenora Crawford; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Glenn and Martha Garrison; brother-in-law, David Harvey; thirteen grandchildren, Dayna, Courtney, Chris, Naomi, Derrick, Damien (Deshawna), Deona, Jamar (Ashley), Jordan, Donte, Darrius, D’Shawn and Jay; six great-grandchildren, Jyia, Daniel, Messiah, Sydney, Kailin and Jeremiah; devoted daughter-in-law, Roselyn White; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, devoted Jean Carter. We thank God for sharing her with us. There is no descriptive epitaph to describe our love for her. We humbly submit her and our cares to God our Gracious Father whose “mercies endure forever.” Her legacy of unconditional love and self-sacrificing service to others will remain forever in our memories.
