Eddie Taylor

On August 10, 2006 after a lengthy illness, God in his infinite wisdom saw the road getting rough for his son, Eddie Taylor, and quietly called him home.Eddie Taylor was born in McDonald, North Carolina to the late Bailey and Dealey Taylor, on October 1, 1924. He received his education in McDonald, North Carolina where he joined the U.S. Armed Forces and received World War II Victory Medal. He held numerous jobs in his lifetime, but his most important one was at “Koppers” where he retired after thirty years of hard work. After retirement, Eddie just couldn’t stop, due to his big heart, unselfishness, and compassion for others. He joined a hacking club in 1986 in Walbrook Junction Shopping Center and enjoyed it diligently, until his health would not allow him any longer. Although he wasn’t a member of a church, he was most definitely a strong believer of God.Affectionately known as “Mr. Ed”, he was loved and respected by an abundance of associates, family, and friends. He was always willing, to the utmost of his abilities, to help anyone, at any time.He leaves to cherish his memory: loving wife of twenty-one years, Dozene Taylor; two sons, Eric Sanders and Dallas Taylor (three sons preceded him in death, Eddie Jr, Henderson Taylor and Ronald Moody); three daughters, Josie Hoover of N.C., Doris Fleet and Alice Taylor; four grandchildren who resided with him, Tyrone, Jason, Shaquan and Sharon; eighteen additional grandchildren, Kay, Donna, Terry, Sam, Gerrod, Raynard, Kimberly, Latasha, Tony, Crystal, Chantay, Alyssa, Dallas, Tiffany, Thomas, Brandon, Shanika and Deron; thirty-seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two nephews, Clarence Jones of N.C. and Charles Taylor of Washington, D.C.; stepdaughter, Sharon Smith; son-in-law, Bernard Fleet; daughter-in-law, Darlene Taylor; three sisters-in-law, Wilma Joyce, Dorothy Strickland, and Florence Parker; brother-in-law, Edward Joyce; special cousin and friend, Ben Chavis; his cat, Precious Taylor; a host of other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by sister, Pearlie Mae Jones and two brothers, Bradley and Grady Taylor.
