Earline Gregory

Earline Gregory, affectionally known as "Sister", was born on May 12, 1923 in Buckingham County, Virginia to Fred Baker and Katherine Anderson Baker. She was the second of ten children born to her parents, and she peacefully departed this life on December 10, 2020 at Keswick Multi-Care Center. She receieved her education at Saratoga School in Buckingham County, Virginia. Earline accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Rideway Baptist Church in Buckingham County. She married Willie Gilliam in 1939, and from this union, their only daughter, Mary, was born. In later years, she moved to Baltimore where she worked several jobs, one of which was a culinarian at Loyola High School, and she retired from there in 1985. Earline loved her family and looked forward to holidays when she often invited family and friends to her home to partake of the delicious and delectable food that she had prepared especially for them. She married James Gregory in 1987, and they lived in Virginia until December 2012, when they returned to Baltimore to be closer to his family because of his illness. Earlene knew the Lord as her personal Savior and joined Emmanuel Church International in Gwynn Oak, MD in 2016. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23, and she knew that the Lord was her "personal Shephard" who would never leave her nor forsake her. She loved her church, her pastor, and the congregation, and attended church regularly until her health began to fail. One of her favorite pastimes was shopping, and many considered "Sister" as a shopaholic because when the malls opened, she was there, and sometimes when it was closing, she was still there because she always took time to buy and eat a meal before leaving. We loved "Sister" just as much as she loved us, and her absence will surely be missed by her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Mary Gilliam Jones (James); one sister, Alice Dabney; one brother, Clarence Baker; two sisters-in-law, Rosylin Baker and Louise Baker; a devoted niece, Joann Future; a great niece, Lenora; a devoted nephew, Robert Baker; a devoted cousin, Blanche Bowles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
