Earl "Moe T" Johnny Townes

Reflection of Life I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 It is with great sadness that our beloved Earl Johnny Townes left this world peacefully on December 6, 2023, at age 66. Moe was born in Richmond, Virginia to Regina Townes and the late Johnnie Townes on September 21, 1957. He is preceded in death by his twin sister Pearl “Alma” Townes and brother Horace Townes. He enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and served his country proudly. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he worked hard and eventually gained a love for floor cleaning and restoration. Earl formerly worked as a Custodian at Clover Hill Elementary School in Midlothian, Virginia which made him most proud. He was affectionately known as “Moe” by his family and friends. The tapestry of Moe’s life was woven with the threads of family and he was bestowed with the cherished gift of two children, Kym and Danielle. His grandchildren were an extension of his heartbeat. Moe’s ability to connect with people was unparalleled; he never met a stranger and befriended everyone he encountered. The overwhelming outpouring of love today is a testament to the treasured relationships and connections he cultivated. He was a wonderful man and provider to his family. In his leisure, Moe enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his Cobra One buddies. He is survived by his wife Benita Tiangson-Townes, loving children Kym Townes-Longoria and Danielle Townes, adored grandchildren Mya Longoria and Jayla Collins; beloved mother Regina Townes; siblings, Ronald Townes, Tracie Townes, Beverley Townes, and Charles “Man Man” Townes; caring niece, Jeaneen Townes; and host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and his dear Cobra One Family, Clover Hill Elementary School Family, and friends. When We Lost You We wish we could see you one more time, Come walking through the door… But we know that is impossible, we will hear your voice no more. We know you can feel our tears and you don’t want us to cry, Yet my heart is broken because we can’t understand why someone so precious had to die. We pray that God will give us strength and somehow get me through…as we struggle with the heartache That came when we lost you.
