Dwight Fitzgerald Grant

Legacy of Love Dwight Fitzgerald Grant was born on May 6, 1963, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Elloweese Stephenson Hinton and Ray Grant. On June 26, 2026, Dwight peacefully departed this life after courageously battling illness. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ray Grant, Jr.; his sister, Gwendolyn Burwell; and his beloved nephew, Xavier Burwell. He graduated from Highland Springs High School, where his athletic ability earned him a full football scholarship to Virginia Tech. He later continued his education at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. He joined Cedar Street Baptist Church at a young age, and there he received his spiritual blessings. On July 1, 1994, Dwight married the love of his life, Veverly Watkins, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in friendship, loyalty, laughter, and unconditional love. Professionally, Dwight dedicated more than 32 years of service to White Oak Semiconductor and DuPont as a Technician Auxiliary Operator in the Tyvek division. He earned the respect of coworkers not because he sought recognition, but because excellence came naturally to him. Dependable, humble, and hardworking, he believed that every job deserved his best effort. More importantly, he treated people with respect, leaving behind friendships that extended far beyond the workplace. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures. He loved gathering around a good meal, whether dining out or enjoying home-cooked favorites. Dwight enjoyed attending concerts, spending time with family and friends, and creating memories that will forever be treasured by those who shared them. If there was one place where Dwight’s patience and pride truly shined, it was in his yard. His lawn wasn’t simply grass—it was his masterpiece. A lifelong football fan, Dwight faithfully cheered for “his” Dallas Cowboys through every winning season and every heartbreaking loss. His loyalty never wavered. To him, football represented more than a game. It was about perseverance, teamwork, resilience, and believing that tomorrow always brings another opportunity. One of Dwight’s greatest joys was caring for his beloved fur babies—Diesel, Joy, Duke, and Harriette. They were far more than pets; they were family, and anyone who visited his home quickly understood just how much love filled his heart for them. With cherished memories and enduring love, Dwight leaves to celebrate his life his devoted wife, Veverly Grant; his beloved aunts, Barbara Lawrence, Audrey Cowans, and Werenith Moore; his nephews, Dominic Burwell and Ray Jones; his special cousin, Dexter Stephenson; god-daughter, Latroy Forbes; his lifelong best friend and brother, Bobby Holmes; his devoted cousin, Nadine Williams, whose love and faithful companionship brought comfort during many long evenings; and a host of loving cousins, relatives, dear friends, neighbors, and all whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.
