Dwayne A. Gibson

DWAYNE GIBSON, son of Hattie and the late Heyward Gibson was born in Sinai Hospital on March 1, 1966 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life in Sinai Hospital on Friday, July 15,2016 after a lengthy illness. Dwayne, affectionately known as "Ya Ya" was friendly and outgoing, having a smile whenever he greeted you. He had a positive outlook on life. Dwayne was always meticulous about his appearance, having a love for fashion. Dwayne was very curious as a young boy, wanting to know everything. Dwayne had a love for all sports, playing baseball on a little league team and football on the Forest Park High School varsity team and was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan. Dwayne had a passion for animals. He especially loved his four legged girl Sassy. Dwayne loved and had a personal relationship with God. His favorite hymn was "I'm on the Battlefield for My Lord". Dwayne had an exceptional bond with his mother. He was able to share some of his most intimate thoughts with her, stating he had the most "nurturing and loving" mother anyone could ask for. Dwayne had a special closeness with his sister Ella who he affectionally call "Sis" stating how blessed he was by not only having a sister but a second mother when referring to her. Dwayne shared a special bond with his three sons; Dwayne, Jr., Damon and Aaron. Dwayne took particular delight in a special relationship with his devoted friend David Gordon and first cousin Doran Gibson who were faithful to him. Dwayne also cherished his friendship with Wanda Ranton, La Vonne Brown, and Charvette Lynch. Dwayne attended Baltimore City Public School, earning a high school diploma. Dwayne worked a host of jobs, but was an entrepreneur at heart, exploring many careers but loved the machinery used to clean carpet and upholstery. Preceding Dwayne in death were his father Heyward Gibson, Sr.; brothers Rommie, Heyward, Jr., and Kelvin Gibson; a special cousin-like sister, Marcella Summers and a special nephew Toby Johnson. It was a sad day when Dwayne left us but he leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted mother, Hattie Gibson; devoted sister, Ella Howard; sister-in-law, Linda Gibson; three sons, Dwayne, Jr., Damon and Aaron (Loreal); grandchildren, Arden, Darryl, Derrell, and Nevaeh; six aunts, Hattie Owens, Rose Raleigh, Marian Gibson, Mae Gibson, Margaret Gibson and Velma McFadden; one uncle, Daniel McFadden; four nephews, David Fulton, Denard Howard, Nickolas and Christopher Santiful; and first cousin, Doran Gibson; best friend, David Gordon; a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
