Douglass Lavern Jones Jr.

Today, we assemble to acknowledge and celebrate the life of DOUGLAS LAVERN JONES JR., who entered into eternal life on December 14, 2010. Dough (Dougie Fresh) as some called him was a real man of Honor and everyone who knew him knew that Josie was the Love of his life. A TIME TO BE BORN (ECCLESIASTES 3:2) Douglass Lavern Jones, Jr. was born January 11,1957 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the parents of Douglas Jones, Sr. and Silvia A. Jones. He was the eldest of seven children. A TIME TO BE TRAINED (PROVERBS 22:6) Douglas received his early education in Columbus, Ohio where he attended Linden McKinley High School. Douglas also attended Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio where he was considered a genius in Mathematics. In 1974 Douglas enlisted in the United States Army, 82nd Airborn Division, (Transportation Specialist/Combat Engineer) and was stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He received an honorable discharge in 1977. A TIME TO BE SAVED (John 30:3) Douglas was baptized in the Name of Jesus in May of 1992 and received the Gift of the Holy Spirit in July of 1992. A TIME TO LOVE (Ecclesiates 3:9) In September of 1991, Doug met his soul mate Josephine Boydner who had recently relocated to Columbus, Ohio from Baltimore, Maryland. They met at the Department of Defense where both were employed at the time. They were engaged on February 14, 1992 and on September 19, 1992 they professed their love before God and man and were joined together in Holy Matrimony. Doug and Josie loved each other unconditionally and had so much fun together. They looked out for each other at all times. A TIME FOR FAMILY Douglas has four children, Katana, Nigel Lesheall, Jonathan; five grandchildren, Derrick Des’raya, Ganarah, Theodore and Montaez; one great-granddaughter, Skye; his FIRST FAMILY, seven siblings, Jennifer Jones of California, Deanna Jones, of Chillicothe, Ohio, Michelle Jones of Columbus, Ohio, Chester Jones of California, Tracey Jones of Columbus, Ohio, Patricia White of Atlanta, Georgia, his FOUNDATION FAMILY, Dad, Douglas Jones, Sr. of Chillicothe, Ohio; Mom, Dorothy Jones of Chillicothe, Ohio, Mother, Silvia A. Scott/Jones of Bain Bridge, Ohio. A TIME FOR LABOR (Genesis 3:19) Doug was a perfectionist when it came to his job. He was employed at the W.R. Grace Davidson Chemical Company in Curtis Bay; he worked in the Hydro Processing Plant. While at Grace Davidson, Doug worked in several positions. His current position was working as a control room operator. He was employed at Grace for twelve years. He has received letters of recognition for his outstanding performance and work ethics as well as for safety from his current and former employers. While at Grace, Doug met and was close to a few homeguys that shared good times together at work and outside of work. His homeguys included the K-1 gang; Hydro Processing Gang. His special homeguy was Mack, Mack and Doug were very close, as was Jason, Shawn, Jimmy, Smitty, Ivanhoe, Al Priest, Ernie Jones, Freddie, Moe and Tony and special homegirl Goldie, and many many others at Grace that are too many to mention at this time but were in the Doug’s Grace family. A TIME FOR WORSHIP Doug was a member of the Macedonia Christian Center located at 3509 Milford Avenue under the pastorship of Jannie B. Williams, he served as a deacon. A TIME TO LAUGH – A TIME TO DANCE (Ecclesiates 3:4) Doug loved music and was proud of how he kept his CD’s from getting scratched. He enjoyed food, oh yes, he could eat. He loved cooking on the grill as well. He enjoyed hooking up with co-workers for special occasions such as crab feasts and the Grace picnic and Christmas Party. He really enjoyed his visits to Ohio; each visit was always a good time that included many laughs and party time. Doug had a way of changing people’s name; he would know your name but would add something to it. He would call our neice Toog, Toogie Wookie, he as called Jimmy, Jimmy Southland (even though his name was Jimmy Sunderlan. He would say Mack the Mack and he called his dog, Moody Mascody. One thing for sure the people that were in his close Grace family could cal him Mr. C.R. A TIME TO BE WITH THE LORD (Numbers 23:10) At 2:30 a.m. on December 14, 2010, Douglas slipped away to be with the Lord. His memory will be cherished by: his soul mate, friend and lover, Josephine (Josie) Jones of nineteen years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Silvia A. Scott and her long time friend, Sass. He is also survived by: his children, Katana Jones and Nigel Jones of Columbus, Ohio, Lasheall and Jonathan Harry, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland; five grandchildren, and one great granddaughter, Skye; father, Doug Jones, Sr. and wife, Dorothy Jones of Chillicothe, Ohio; siblings, Jennifer Jones and Chester Jones of California, Deanna Jones of Chilicothe, Ohio; Michelle Jones and Tracey Jones of Columbus, Ohio; and Patricia Jones-White of Atlanta, Georgia; special aunts, Aunt Faye of Bain Bridge, Ohio, Aunt Duralee, whom Dougie lived with when he was a teenager. He has a host of aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces in the states of Ohio, California, Georgia, and North Carolina and a host of friends and co-workers. He had a special relationship with Mack and Lisa.
