Douglas Monroe Lee

Today,we celebrate the homegoing for one of God's most faithful servants, Douglas Monroe Lee. On April 27,1939,God blessed India Carter Lee and Earnest Lee with a baby boy whom they named Douglas. He was affectionately called Doug throughout his lifetime. Doug attended Richmond Public Schools and was among the 1957 graduating class of Armstrong High School. After graduation, Doug joined the Air Force for several years. He was employed with the United States Post Office and Philip Morris,USA,where he retired. In his early years,he accepted Christ and rededicated his life in his later years. He was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church. Doug enjoyed spending time with his family,playing golf and fishing. He was a very dedicated Washington Redskins fan and everyone knew it. He was a member of the PM 90's Retirement Club,the Hooksetters Fishing Club and for many years,the Railroad Club. Within these clubs he served as an officer. Throughout his life,Doug understood the importance of love,the rewards of joy;and the fulfillment of living life to the fullest. He was a loving and devoted husband,father,grandfather,brother,uncle and friend. At times,Doug would put others needs before his own. Doug transitioned into his eternal life on November 1,2011. He never complained throughout his courageous battle. He was preceded in death by his father,Earnest Earl Lee;mother India Lee Whirley;sisters,Mary Elizabeth Edwards and India Pearl Hammond;brother,Stanley Lee and several relatives who meant so much to him. Douglas Monroe Lee's life on earth is over,but memories will be cherished forever. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years,Rosa N. Lee;one daughter,Michele Miller-Smith(Ronald);two sons,Ramon Lee and Oteriah Lee(LaTanya);six grandchildren,Trevon L. and Trenton M. Miller,Oteriah II and Trinity Lee,Shakia N. and Jaron M. Smith;two great grandchildren,Tyson L. Miller and Cameron R. Jones;three sisters,Earnestine Johnson,Luvada G. Winston and Lola Lee;one brother,Theodore Lee;three sisters-in-law,Princess Lee,Evelyn Lee and Eva Robinson;two brothers-in-law,Lawrence Winston and James Minor;godniece and nephew,Darlene Abrams and Morris"Country"Robinson,Sr.,stick partner,Jerome Johnson and a host of nieces,nephews,cousins and close friends,all of whom held a special place in his heart.
