Dorothy Thomas

DOROTHY MAE MILES THOMAS, daughter of the late Bennie Miles and Mary Alice Miles, was born January 15, 1928 in Greenville County, Virginia. She was a member of Faithful Band Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, North Carolina. She departed life on April 8, 2015 at Long Green Nursing Home in Baltimore, Maryland after a lengthy illness. She received her education at Concord Elementary School bof Pleasant Hill, North Carolina and furthered her educatioin in Baltimore, Maryland. She was employed as a domestic worker and a neighborhood nanny until she retired. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Frederick D. Thomas on July 12, 1975. They raised a nephew as their own son, Shawn Miles, who preceded her in death; a niece, Helene Diehl Hooper; goddaughter, Diane Mack; godgranddaughter, Iesha Wallace; and a special nephew, James Miles who resided with them. She leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Hattie M.(Mary) Taylor of Baltimore, Maryland. Preceding her in death are her siblings, Pocohontas, Eva, Jeannette, Isaiah,Thelma, George, Willie, Rufus and Junious.
