Dorothy R. Morgan

Dorothy “Bootsie” Morgan, 87, departed this life on Sunday, April 19, 2015, at the Autumn Care Nursing Facility, Mechanicsville, Virginia, after a long illness. She was born on June 4, 1927, in Beaufort, South Carolina, to the late Frank and Mattie Rhett Robinson. She was educated in Beaufort, South Carolina School Systems. She was united in holy matrimony in 1945, to the late Sam Morgan, Jr. To this union, 4 children were born. In 1946, Bootsie came to Elizabeth, NJ, and joined Shiloh Baptist church and was a devoted member for many years. Bootsie worked at various jobs over the years, but the one that stands out the most is being a child care provider for working parents. The children she cared for still kept in touch even after becoming adults. In 1999, she decided to make Richmond, Virginia, her home and continued in the job she loved most which was caring for her great grandchildren. While living in Virginia, Bootsie found her church home and became a member at Overflow Ministries. She received a Certificate of Ordination as ‘Mother of the Church’ and attended on a regular basis, until she took sick in 2013. Bootsie’s favorite pastime was reading novels, word searches, and crocheting. She enjoyed being part of a group of ladies that crocheted lap quilts for the VA Hospital and baby blankets/hats for various local hospitals. In addition to being predeceased by her parents, husband and seven siblings, (J.C., Betty, Nathaniel, Buster, Frank, Red, and Jr.). Bootsie’s third born daughter Constance Elizabeth Morgan, also prematurely departed as well. Bootsie leaves to mourn three daughters, Deloris Morgan, Richmond, VA; Carlene Jackson, Piscataway, NJ; and Pamela Morgan-Green (James) South Plainfield, NJ. She also leaves to mourn five grandchildren Lamarr Jackson, (Christine); Sonja Tucker, (Ernest); Towanna Jackson; Kia Jackson, and Keenya Green. Eight great-grands, Marcus Tucker, Nicole Morris, Kelli Scott, Jayson Tucker, Kristopher Jackson, Chelsie Tucker, Bryce Priester, Kevin Jackson. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law Margarite Robinson, a longtime friend Johnnie Mae Clark, Ms. Kizzie, Ms. Meredith James and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family also want to recognize the Richard family and the Kearney-Eaton family, for their love and devotion.
