Dorothy R. Mills

Dorothy Ruth Mills (Dot, Dottie, Aunt Dot, Roosie”) was born in Anderson, S.C. To the late Alberta Davis Williams and Wallace Eddie Williams, Sr on September 10, 1943. Dorothy was educated in Baltimore where she lived from early childhood to adulthood. At Avery early age she met the love of her life, Charles Mills, Jr. Little did both of them know that they would end up spending a lifetime together? Time and life separated them and brought them back together. They were wed on May 31, 1985 and remained together until time separated them once again. Dorothy was a special person, although she never had children of her own, she was very instrumental in helping to raise all the children in the family. She loved to nurture, dance, cook (her best dishes were spaghetti and fried chicken, Charles' favorite!) she loved her family and adored her husband . Dorothy's favorite pet name for everyone she cared for was “Hon.” She loved watching old movies and her favorite shows were “I Love Lucy” and and “Sanford and Son.” She had a remarkable sense of humor and wisdom when it came to giving advice or comforting those in need. Dorothy was also a very spiritual woman, she often prayed for the family and loved ones. When she learned of her illness and realized that her time would be short, SHE PRAYED, SHE PRAYED that she would not suffer. SHE PRAYED that she would not linger, so that others would suffer. SHE PRAYED that the Lord's will be done! Dorothy knew that whatever the Lord's will be done! Dorothy knew that whatever the Lord's plans were that they were just that HIS PLANS. On Sunday, October 9th the skies cleared and the night cried out “enough” Dorothy saw the dawn and then the sun came up! Dorothy leaves to remember and celebrate her life: a devoted husband, Charles; three brothers Larry G. Davis, Wallace E.Williams and Clifton Hicks; one sister Birdie L. Stokes; six brother-in-laws; six sister-in-laws; five aunts; Dorothy Parker, Lucille Davis, Liddy Robertson, Betty Williams, and Margaret Holmes; 11nieces; 9 nephews; 11 great nieces and nephews; 31 great-great nieces and nephews; a host of other family members and lots of friends that she made along the way. Her eldest sister, Margaret A. Redd preceded her in death.
