Dorothy M. Taylor

DOROTHY MARIE JOHNSON TAYLOR was the first born daughter of Benjamin Johnson and Tenie Lewis Johnson. She was born on April 27, 1925, in Kilmarnock, Virginia. She departed this life on August 4, 2005, after a very brief illness. She was married for fifty years to Peter Taylor, and out of their union came five children, Tenie, Billy, Dottie, Mary and Net. She attended Morgan E. Norris Elementary School and she also attended and graduated from A. T. Wright High School in White Stone, Virginia. Mother Taylor was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful, devoted member of Central Baptist Church for fifty years. She served on Willing Workers, Senior Missionary, Ladies Aide, Gospel Chorus, Pastor Bible Class, Praise and Worship Team and the Mass Choir; also a faithful supporter of all programs and services. Mother Taylor also attended Bible Classes at New Psalmist Baptist Church and A Day Away From Home Ministries and all senior activities. She was also a faithful supporter of The New Rose of Sharon Baptist Church for twenty-five years. Dorothy Marie Taylor worked as a Cafeteria Manager in the Baltimore City Public School System for thirty-five years, and she retired in 1992. Mother Taylor was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She was a fun, loving and kind person who was always willing to lend a helping hand for any occasion. She loved to cook and travel around the world and be around her family; and most of all she loved the Lord, thy God with all her heart and soul. Her hobbies were cooking homemade rolls and traveling. She never let grass grow under her feet; she was always on the go. She leaves to cherish her memory: five children, Tenie Johnson of Baltimore, Maryland, William Taylor of Indian Trail, North Carolina, Dorothy Berry of Baltimore, Maryland, Mary Sulder of Baltimore, Maryland and Jeanette Coles of Fredericksburg, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Lena Taylor; two sons-in-law, Londell Coles, Sr. and Randolph F. Berry; thirteen grandchildren, Alisha, Kenny, Jerry, Kisha, Kevin, NaNa, James, Man, Lionel, Del, Boo Boo, Keith, and Jr.; twenty-five great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; two godchildren, Bishop Robert Wise and Marguerite Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
