Dorothy Jean Coleman

God knew she fought a good fight and now it is time for her to rest. Dorothy “Jean” Coleman was born January 16, 1968 then departed this life August 25, 2016. Jean was born to Stoney Brook and Elizabeth Taylor in Richmond, Virginia. Dorothy attended John F. Kennedy High School and went on to further her education at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College where she earned her Degree as an LPN. Dorothy met her life-mate James in 1991 and knew he was the only one for her. Her love and knowledge for God helped her to understand that she and James would no longer be two but one flesh. They understood the importance of serving God together and showing that example to their children. Throughout the years they had wonderful times. Dorothy was the matriarch of the family and the glue that kept everyone together. She loved shoe and handbag shopping, watching Lifetime movies while enjoying her coffee. Thrift store shopping was one of her pleasured. Dorothy was a great cook and her family appreciated the meals. As we all know she kept her hair fabulous and nails to perfection. She was an avid 10K marathon walker, and good swimmer. Dorothy was very meticulous about her landscaping and enjoyed sharing the upkeep with James. Dorothy loved spoiling her grandchildren. There was nothing that she would not do for them. Dorothy was a faithful employee at Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Administration Medical Center (McGuire Hospital). This facility was a place that allowed her light to shine because she loved caring for others. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory,a loving devoted husband,James E. Coleman,sisters;Mary Taylor,Sylvia Taylor,Rose Taylor,brother,Stoney Taylor,Jr.of Virginia,mother-in-law,Polly Dziemianowicz(Dennis),of Pennsylvania,sisters-in-law,Alsenia Ellis,Samantha Ellis-Pierrelouis(Edwich)of New Jersey,brother-in-law Kenyatta Kingsberry,of Virginia,children; Talisha Coleman,James Coleman,Jr.,LaTonya Jones,Jasmine Coleman and Janell Coleman,grandchildren,Shaheed Dawkins,Jr. Shaheem Dawkins,Amari Hill and Shaia Dawkins of Virginia,and a host of nieces,nephews,cousins,family and friends. Her loving smile will be missed by many.
