Dorothea Lomax

Dorothea Anita Lomax, daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy J. Johnson, was born on November 25, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on May 2, 2011. Dorothea was known to many as Dottie, but to the little ones who adored her most, she was Nana. Dottie was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and was a graduate of Eastern High School where she sang on the choir. She furthered her learning by attending Cortez Peters Business College to enhance her skills and the Peabody Institute of Music to gain greater music knowledge. Dottie attended and was baptized at the Saint Paul Baptist Church. She was a member of the Youth Choir, Junior Missionaries and Sunday School. Her grandmother, the late Annie Banks, her Aunts Mildred and Margie Banks supported her in her growth and efforts as a young and maturing adult. Dorothea's first job was as a secretary of the Dunbar Day Care Center. She became a legal secretary for John Stencil. After nine years she became a Commitment Records Specialist for the State of Maryland. Dottie married Frank H. Lomax, Jr and from this union raised two daughters, Jacquetta and Trashauna and two sons, Marlo (who preceded her in death) and Clinton. They've celebrated over 33 years of marriage, love and friendship. Dottie was a very private, loving and family oriented person. She enjoyed watching old movies, playing keno and ' going up the road' with her sister Rose. Dottie leaves to mourn her departing; her husband, Frank; children Jacquetta (Brian) Pumphrey, Trashauna and Clinton; grandchildren, Devin, Brionna, Trashelle, Marlo Jr, Nakiyah, Tyrae, Tyrel, John Jr; mother-in-law; Geraldine Lomax; siblings, Mary Little, Rosetta (Robert) Marks, Dennis (Patricia) Johnson, Patricia Johnson and Barbara Ann Johnson; in-laws, Geraldine (William) Gibson, Debra Streat, Marie (John) Turpin, Francis Lomax, and Richard Lomax; aunts and uncles, Annie (Charles) Dorsey, (Devoted Aunt) Mildred Banks, Helen Boardley, Margie Banks and Phyllis Banks (New York); three devoted and John Hawkins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
